Well, let’s move it to libpysal then?
It needs to be there

@darribas
@knaaptime do we have a page or somewhere for segregation with the equations of the indices? I'm trying to run a Herfindahl, which is the economist version of the Simpson's diversity and I'm not sure which version in segregation it is? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herfindahl%E2%80%93Hirschman_Index
eli knaap
@knaaptime
i dont think we have anything like an equation page at the moment
your best bet would probably be to go the API page, click the init link and scroll up to the equation in code (most of them are quite readable) https://pysal.org/segregation/_modules/segregation/local/local_multi_simpson_concentration.html#MultiLocalSimpsonConcentration.__init__
i know thats not ideal, so i'll add an issue on the repo
to the specific issue, herfindahl isnt in segregation at the moment. Serge and i have talked about whether it should go there or into possibly another package focused on econ measures and/or regional analysis
eli knaap
@knaaptime
(i dont think there was a resolution to that convo. I'm game to add it (I'm familiar with it, I'd love to do this kinda work at scale https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17549175.2015.1029509, i just dont think ive ever seen it in the residential segregation literature)
eli knaap
@knaaptime
no wait
i think we just misnamed simpsons diversity as simpson's concentration
this looks like the right equation?

sorry, you want the lcoal version
Dani Arribas-Bel
@darribas
that Lambda object looks to me like the Herfindahl no?
local_SC is the same vectorised, no?
it doesn't help economists have a passion for getting new names for existing indices
SimpsonConcentration is the one?
eli knaap
@knaaptime
yes
thats the global version for the whole region
therse's also a local version that returns an estimate for each unit
Dani Arribas-Bel
@darribas
I see cool! Thanks!!!

Hello!
I'm an engineering student at Imperial College London undergoing a research project. I'm continuing the work of a previous student using your library for spatial analysis, but I'm running into some issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@ljwolf
Hi @danekwo! Yes, definitely. We can help here, or you can open an issue on GitHub to describe it.

@ljwolf
Rad thanks @danekwo! Will be able to get a thorough look tomorrow

Gratz on 2.5.0, all! As a reminder for the dev meeting this coming Friday (8/5/2021), please feel free to add any items you would like to discuss to the HackMD document

@jeffcsauer
Hi all - monthly dev meeting set to start in 5 minutes or so. Agenda available here. Would someone mind circulating the google meet? I'm currently in the waiting room and have a feeling this isn't quite right...

Hi! Apologies for popping here again, I'm not the best at coding.
I'm running into some issues when trying to build weight objects from an xArray dataArray with some missing values (np.nan), as it appears to not ignore points with missing values. When running "w.islands", an empty array is returned. Is there please anyone available for a quick call sometime this week to see if I've made an obvious mistake? Thanks.
(I can provide my code if needed)
Levi John Wolf
@ljwolf
Hi Dan, the missing pixels are ignored, rather than added as “disconnected” points.

@TaylorOshan
final gsoc meeting link?
jeffcsauer
@jeffcsauer
Hi all - would anyone be able to host the developer meeting tomorrow? Both Taylor and I have teaching commitments and are unavailable.
Martin Fleischmann
@martinfleis
I can do that

@jeffcsauer
Thanks so much, Martin! I will let Taylor know as well.
