@e8johan 176 is a real bug. Which needs to be fixed
@e8johan 174 is also a real defect. We should either state we are using python3 always or state solutions for both python versions. I would go with stating we are using python3 always.
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
ok, tagged as such
as for 174, I'm with you. I'll clarify in the issue that the python version should be stated and that the example should be updated

@gillesfernandez
@e8johan about the screenshot method, there is one in pure QML nowadays in almost one line, but it still requires investigations as the result provided by the QML method has really bad resolution
I guess it doesn’t apply anti aliasing
So if yours has better resolution, it might be better to just add the QML solution but keep the cop one
Cpp
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
@gillesfernandez yup, we need to compare them. Also, I think that shorty could do screenshot sequences (I don't recall if we did that in qml or C++)
I just had a look - it does not do sequences, but you can inject events using it, e.g. keypresses and mouse clicks
@/all I just did an initial review of all the issues for qmlbook and tagged them. For all typos, I'll try to get them fixed this weekend.
bugs can be super easy, but some requires some analysis - I would prioritize them next
that will give us an up to date baseline
Jürgen Ryannel
@jryannel
@gillesfernandez How should that go practically? I would not like that a screenshot solution has any influence on an example. Also not every root item has a grab method (e.g. Window). I find the current solution to have the functionality in the runtime is a good approach.
Gilles Fernandez
@Brethzel_gitlab
@jryannel that's what I was pointing out
#111
someone asks why not a pure QML method
might be worth showing how the qml method works, but what are the limitations
no sequences, not all items, bad image quality (not sure the one you have does better, didn't try it)
Jürgen Ryannel
@jryannel
@Brethzel_gitlab I know we use the grabToImage function in many test qml documents.
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
I just closed all typos. Quite a few of them where already fixed, but I've walked through all of them.
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
@jryannel I've done a whole bunch of updates now, but I'm not sure about the travis build status.
to me, it looks broken
will the page auto-update, or do I have to do something?
Jürgen Ryannel
@jryannel
Currently I would need to run the publish script. Ideally in the future we create release tags and auto publish latest tag
Travis is still broken
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
I think that we should do tags according to Qt releases, and then have a dev build which is the current bleeding edge
Jürgen Ryannel
@jryannel
When we tag for a Qt release I would expect we update also all QML imports for the latest? And this tag would also mean that would be the Qt version we tested agains. Korrekt?
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
Genau :-)

Hello everyone, i'm new to become c++ developer with qt and i want to know i qml book teach in how to develop app with c++
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
@xhimanshuz the qmlbook is about QML, even though there are some chapters on how to extend a QML application with C++. If you want to learn C++ and Qt, the qmlbook is the wrong resource.
Himanshu Rastogi
@xhimanshuz
@e8johan Thanks man you saved my life and time, is there any other resources where i can lean qt with c++ then i will be more appreciable.
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
I'm not sure what's available on-line (I'm sure there is something). I wrote the Foundations of Qt Development a few years back (available through APress).
Also, if you are learning both C++ and Qt, I recommend that you start with basic C++ first, then continue with Qt.
This will teach you about the language (C++) first, before you go into the details of the framework (Qt), since Qt uses C++ in a specific way.
@xhimanshuz ^^
Himanshu Rastogi
@xhimanshuz
@e8johan but i already know c++ now i want to learn c++, i need resources

Hi erveryone, I am studing QML and almost now I bumped into a small issue with the book assets in chapter 4. It is a small thing, the greenbox asset in the transformation segment and example is missing. In the download files there is a box_green@2x and 3x, not a simple boox_green with 64x64 pixels. Just to let you know. Thank you for this material, it is very helpful.
Johan Thelin
@e8johan
@silviogatisf Thanks for telling - I will create an issue.

Hi guys, do you have qmlbook as presentation somewhere?

@e8johan congrats on your sponsoring !

@e8johan
Thanks! It is great to be able to spend some time on this project again!
@jmlich nopes, there is no such version available.
