James Draper
@draperjames
Cool. Yeah it seems cool I'll def dip back into it.
Zeke
@zbarge
Im thinking about redesigning those qtpandas dialogs in designer
so that way people can just load it and change around the buttons or whatever they want without having to reinvent the wheel
James Draper
@draperjames
go for it. I'd like you see what you come up with.
Zeke
@zbarge
nice
James Draper
@draperjames
If you don't mind keep a list of the files you think we can go ahead and lose and post it on the issue that I'm about to create and link. I wanna try to keep the base nice and clean.
Zeke
@zbarge
ok sure
shoot it looks pretty minimal as it is
idk if i care for the CamelCaseFileNames
but...im not too picky
James Draper
@draperjames
Yeah it sucks that they are all mixed up. I'm not that picky either #7(Remove useless files.)
Zeke
@zbarge
These guys developed a pretty nice app with PyQt
James Draper
@draperjames
whoa that is pretty damn good. I like the dark theme too.
James Draper
@draperjames
So I just posted this;
Hi everyone, idk if this is the right gitter room for this but @zbarge and I have been working on a python2/3 compatible version of pandas-qt called qtpandas. I referenced it in this pandas-dev/pandas#14818. Anyways we are looking for more people that would be interested developing/maintaining and I thought I might as well put the word out here. We'd appreciate any feedback you have.
in the pydata\pandas room on gitter.
Zeke
@zbarge
Sweet - nice work dude
James Draper
@draperjames
So maybe that will generate some interest.
Zeke
@zbarge
yeah fingers crossed
James Draper
@draperjames
Next time I'll clear it with you first before speaking on your behalf
Zeke
@zbarge
eh im cool with it no worries
James Draper
@draperjames
Cool I didn't think you'd mind
Zeke
@zbarge
im pretty proud of where qtpandas is going
James Draper
@draperjames
same. things are looking pretty good.
Zeke
@zbarge
do you run the /tests with pytest?
I cant run them unless i delete the init file in the qtpandas main directory
James Draper
@draperjames
is that on your fork now?
have you tried just commenting out this line __import__('pkg_resources').declare_namespace(__name__)
Zeke
@zbarge
no ill take a look at that
James Draper
@draperjames
did you get that to work? it works for me. At the last commit on my fork I have 2 failed and 146 passed
Zeke
@zbarge
wow nice - i can dump my branch lol i am at 6 failed
James Draper
@draperjames
Yeah I think I got lucky. I have been really going hard at just correcting small errors and reading the base as I go. This Codacy thing is really pretty cool.
Zeke
@zbarge
rad - i saw those auto-bug finds from Codacy - seems very useful
James Draper
@draperjames
@zbarge how you managed to get all of the tests to pass?
*have
Zeke
@zbarge
not yet - still 6 fails
I stopped working on it after your major success killing the bugs lol
James Draper
@draperjames
Well I think I might have killed some and made more. Codacy keeps on giving advice that I don't understand. most of the warnings on there are like are this bullshit about adding decorators to methods :confused:
Zeke
@zbarge
ruh roh
Luckily the bugs are extremely minor - core components work great
James Draper
@draperjames
I had to take some time to fuck around with all that to kind of understand what is happening
Zeke
@zbarge
haha
James Draper
@draperjames
Word. I feel like most of the shit is wants me to do is irrelevant
Zeke
@zbarge
Yeah pretty much is...whenever i run pandas scripts i get all sorts of warnings
indexer row column axis foo bar baz bam
the data always comes out fine so im happy though, lol
James Draper
@draperjames
yup. I think that that one might have a kind of simple fix
for real everything seems to work fine
I really wanna get the hang of the pytests and the decorators thing on lock
