Hi! That is great news @janbrus. Is it possible to get some preveiw of what will come in the new version?
Yes. So I have been sick for three days and then I started to build the core functionality for a version 1.0. Now I'm almost done with a much more robust base structure. So hopefully I'll have a new version in a couple of weeks (especially if I get sick again).
So maybe Leo you could start to sketch the outline for a paper?

Hello!
Leo Lahti
@antagomir
Måns thanks for the suggestion. I can take some responsibility with the manuscript. I would, however, suggest that we first work through the new version, create a package website (similar to eurostat; I can have the initial look) and make sure that sufficient online documentation is available. All this will greatly help publishing the work in a good venue. We can always go to R Journal (JUFO1) but we could actually try out some JUFO3 journal (PeerJ Computer Science) or I think Journal of Statistical Software etc would work. Will think for a moment. Anyway my suggestions is that let us first polish the package a bit more. This will give very good basis for publishing it.

Aloha to all, few hours ago I discovered the presentations held in Bilbao last autumn, there are so many news and updates in in the domains statistical databases mostly related to the PX suite.
Really would like to find out if things moved on and the PX Web 2019 was released.
@MansMeg@antagomir if you see this message anyhow, please drop a line.
Leo Lahti
@antagomir
Heloo!
Måns Magnusson
@MansMeg
Sure. I do not know what you mean, but we just released a new improved pxweb r package.
Leo Lahti
@antagomir
So amazing things happening indeed.
Jan Bruusgaard
@janbrus
PX WEB 2019 is still in test phase. Release date is not set.
Måns Magnusson
@MansMeg
Ok. Is PXWEB 2019 backward compatible?
Geo
@geolupascu
Guys, do you know starting what version of PX Web the API functionality was implemented?
for exporting data , not for importing
Leo Lahti
@antagomir
I hope it is.
Geo
@geolupascu
I have studied PX web based databanks of national statistics office
and from 20 of them, only 2 had the JSON availability
We want to built interactive data visualisations apps
and I will advise to the offices to upgrade the PX web
for having API/JSON
we previously created genderpulse.com
that is pumping data from a statistical data bank based on PX WEB
sorry for flooding :)

Måns Magnusson
@MansMeg
Ok. You know this is not the official PXWEB gitter, right? This is the pxweb r package.
Geo
@geolupascu
I did understood that
but this was the only public connection to a px-web anyhow involved team
anyway it is good to see that things are going on, I will do an official request about new releases
Jan Bruusgaard
@janbrus
As far as I know 2019 will be backward compatible. I am not sure what Geo mean here "only 2 had the JSON availability". In PX-web there are two JSON output formats. JSON-stat is the format that is best suited for statstics.
Måns Magnusson
@MansMeg
Thats great, I saw something about a version 2 API that did not look very back-compatible to me. But that may be a later version.
Jan Bruusgaard
@janbrus
Version 2 of the API is not part of 2019 Pxweb, and is not backwards compatible. As I understand the plan, PxWeb will have the possibility to offer both version 1 and 2 at the same time.
Jan Bruusgaard
@janbrus
Px-web 2019 is now released by SCB, but then it is up to each agency to upgrade to the new version.

Hi Måns
Måns Magnusson
@MansMeg
H!
Leo Lahti
@antagomir
Hi!
OK I managed to sync master and overleaf.
Måns Magnusson
@MansMeg
Cool!
Leo Lahti
@antagomir
Now the file that you should modify is magnusson-kainu-lahti.tex
(./paper/ dir)
Now paper/README.md tells how this converts to PDF
there are other ways too of course.
I may also work on overleaf now as we got this working but let us do regular pushes to github in order to keep things in sync
I am talking to Markus about his schedules, otherwise I think the plan is pretty clear.
You should add PO Box info in the affiliation, I think this was required by the journals.
Måns Magnusson
@MansMeg
Ok. So I think I can try to sync from Overleaf, when I write there.
Or do you want me to not use overleaf at all?
I was thinking of creating a template that is compiled that uses input to add the current latex file? That should work? Right?
Leo Lahti
@antagomir
now it works, I also like and use overleaf, we can use that if you prefer
