I tried putting a then() on the this.set(setting) in jumble(), and it looks like the then() fires before the transition finishes. Is the transition optional? If so, how do you flag it? edited ginormous link

But... it isn't a ractive transition tho :wink:

Ractive is just changing the value of top. CSS does the transitioning.

Is there a benefit of doing the shuffling and creating a setting object of keypaths rather than just shuffling the array and setting it back?
Joseph
@fskreuz
May 19 2017 16:05
One advantage is that it's still the same array. Identity checks will still return equal.

There's also no shuffle transition yet, so you can't achieve the movement with just array ops

I've been asked by a few different people about a name change/rebrand for 1.0. 'ractive' seems to usually end up 'reactive', which somehow turns into a 'react'-related thing. I get that. Ractive also has nearly five years of what name recognition it does have. Any opinions?
As far as names go, since it's gained a bit of weight, how about 'bigly.js' or 'yuge.js'? 🤣

I've had several, totally unrelated people say "reactive" already. The name is just a weird cross of the unknown and react. :D

yep "reactive" is a very common misspelling

Maybe we could go with one of @Rich-Harris 's weird (yet unique) naming schemes, like how he did Svelte... and Gobble... and Esperanto... and Butternut. :D

Ractive started out life as anglebars - angular + handlebars
Joseph

Anglebars really sounds close to handlebars tho... :D
We're running out of good names in JS world :D

How about making the word whole: interactive.js
or maybe drop the .js because it's so mainstream?
Chris Reeves
@evs-chris
May 19 2017 22:31
That's a ton of syllables 😀
How about the 'frontend.js' or just 'front.js'

I kinda like how my phone's swype already knows "Reactive," so I just need to remove the "e" and it's changed to "Ractive".

Jeff suggested "Stash", since we use mustaches and efficiently stash/retrieve/observe data.

interesting
could go stache and pronounce it like most people pronounce cache - stash-ay

Bonus points for the accented character, which is easy on phones and much less so on many keyboards 😃

I always forget what the keyboard key to do that is called. I had to look up that it's called a "compose key" (or maybe it should be called the "composé key").

I vaguely remember that it's alt-something-numbers on us English layouts, but I usually end up just pulling up ampwhat or charmap and copy pasting

I'm not sure if that's called compose key. I usually think of it as first choosing your accent mark then the letter to add it to, see Wikipedia.
Sorry everybody for this tangent, but one last thing from said Wikipedia page: "Alt codes could almost be considered a compose key, but with incredibly non-mnemonic numbers as the selector."

what's the status of Unicode in domains? Mostly supported now?
or is it punycode?
Joseph
@fskreuz
May 19 2017 23:14
iirc, recent Chrome converts foreign characters to a"punycode" sequence due to security issues. We might lose "é".
