What's everyone's opinion on Microsoft taking over Github?

maybe electron will see some significant movement?
I mean, headless support has been available upstream for quite some time now, but it still hasn't landed in electron
vscode and typescript are pretty cool, so if the group that ends up managing github isn't one of the ones that wants to nokia their acquisitions, it should be fine

apparently gitlab is buckling under the strain of projects jumping over, and they already had some performance issues

I've faced with that problem too and I think gitlab can't solve this problem unless they change their licensing approach (I think they made gitlab very complicated on purpose in order to make it very difficult to crack, which produced the performance issues)

I'm using Gogs quite some time now and it serves very well both in the point of view of look and feel and the performance

I'll wait around and see if they are going to sink it before I jump ship
at least with git, there's not so much worry about losing everything

The first thing I expect MS do with GH is redesign it to look like Outlook :D

Must retrain my Github-fu muscle memory if that happens.

projects can be divided into 2 main categories: customer specific applications and re-usable projects. Github fits into the second class. I still can't find a proper way to handle the first one. Main reasons are 1: Customer doesn't want to run another account to report the bugs/issues/requests 2: None of our customers speak English, so it's a huge problem if there is no proper language option, 3: They find current bug trackers too complicated. These problems led me embed our own issue tracker into the customer's application. It was easy, thanks to the Ractive itself :))

Oooh, interesting. A Ractive-based issue tracker.
The first thing that came into mind is Trello/Basecamp, but done in Ractive.

I'm a huge fan of Trello and using it for over 3 years now, for both in our projects and for tracking customer projects. Trello is very handy, but I'm preparing to move away. main issue with trello is that it doesn't have an optional interface to make aged users adapt more easily (they can adapt a table/excel like interface in no time where they have very hard times while learning drag and drop, search an existing card etc.) and it doesn't allow some sort of authorization (like "this user can't move that card into this list")
btw, currently scada.js has every necessary component to build a github clone with Ractive with CouchDB :)
