@auBusinessDaD A default admin user was already created and it won’t create a new one unless you reset
@auBusinessDaD by that I mean reaction reset

Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 01:02

Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 01:03
You created the lets-encrypt proxy?
and that’s running?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 01:03
how do I test if it is?
I dont see any logs for letsencrypt
I ran the script
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 01:04
you executed the command listed in the gist and what were the results?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 01:05
it went through like its supposed to
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 01:06

@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 01:06
I used the custom nginx to increase the proxy buffer does that change the name for the nginx in the letsencrypt commands?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 01:09
I don’t know
give me a few minutes, I am going to try and run this from here
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 01:14

Oct 17 2016 01:18

Hi @zenweasel I'm resetting and reloading. Strange that you are seeing it working and I am not. I have noticed that I need to actually close the browser and reopen it when I see javascript enabled error. Fact that you are seeing it is good as I followed the logic around our discussion the other night.
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 01:43
@hydrotik I don’t know. I just pull, reset, reloaded and it worked
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 01:48
@zenweasel yea not too bad, but I need to be able to push code and its getting stuck on me everytime I try the way @jshimko mentioned a few pages up.
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 01:49
which was what?
Donovan Adams - Hydrotik

still seeing that
just did a reaction reset && reaction
@zenweasel version 0.16.1
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 01:57
@hydrotik Not sure what else I can say. Running your code from your repo is working for me. You have no local changes?
Donovan Adams - Hydrotik
@hydrotik
Oct 17 2016 01:58
@zenweasel no, but I will do a couple things to double check. maybe even do a fresh install of RC.
the fact that you are seeing it helps, might also explain some of the odd headaches I was experiencing a few days ago.
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:01
@hydrotik Yeah, I am totally puzzled how we could be seeing something different
I’m on a branch based on development but I don’t know why that would matter
Donovan Adams - Hydrotik
@hydrotik
Oct 17 2016 02:02
@zenweasel would doing a reaction update and a meteor update be a bad idea?
ah ok
I am using reaction init
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:02
same thing
have you checked in the db to make sure your change is there?
You could also add a debug output in the core.html template
Donovan Adams - Hydrotik
@hydrotik
Oct 17 2016 02:04
ok I will check those.. so confirming that reaction init will pull develop?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:04
e.g.
    <nav class="reaction-navigation-header">
      <!-- begin layoutHeader -->
      {{> Template.dynamic template=layoutHeader}}
      <!-- end layoutHeader -->
    </nav>
<p>The layoutHeader is set to {{layoutHeader}}</p>
Donovan Adams - Hydrotik
@hydrotik
Oct 17 2016 02:05
ok great, i will commit that and then try.. then do a fresh init and pull the plugin.. see where that gets me
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:05
no by default it pulls master, but it’s just a wrapper around git clone you can do reaction init -b development my-reaction-directory
Donovan Adams - Hydrotik
@hydrotik
Oct 17 2016 02:05
ah perfect
thanks for that
let me run through all that and I'll update where I land. thanks again @zenweasel

@zenweasel do you remember talking about a fix for stripe giving invalid card when using the 42424242...etc.. testing info? I thought someone fixed it and added it to the new one. It had something to do with the promise?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:09
@ivanthemeh No, that wasn’t a conversation with me, but I do remember reading it in the history
I think the fix was just to remove the callback, but I don’t remember what happened to the fix
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:14
I found it
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:14
testing it now, it seems to be working
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:14
stripe?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:14
I just placed an order using that info with Stripe
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:15
what info? I just use 4242424242424242 and any date and cvc as long as date is in future and I added my stripe sk_live to the stripe api#
itss telling me invalid card number
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:16
not seeing that
if you are using the live Stripe API then you would get that error as that’s not a valid card number
but I am testing using the sandbox and not seeing any issue
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:17
Im using the testing and the testing sk
what info did you enter?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:18
I use the 4242 card always, and then a valid date and cv2
Cart_checkout.png
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:19
its giving me Oops! Credit card is invalid. Please check your information and try again.
Brent Hoover

Cart_completed.png
which branch are you on?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:20
i just ran the commands in the gist exactly except for the custom nginx
well its not working for me >.< Im tired ssee you tomorrow thanks for all your help so far
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:24
k
please double-check that you put the API key in your sandbox setting and not the live
because earlier you said "added my stripe sk_live to the stripe api#"
and that behavior would match using the Live key

Isn't @jshimko making a video today? I really need to be able to push edited code. When I run docker build in my app it's freezing up on me.
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:30
@ivanthemeh actually I do see that behavior when switching to master
is there a reason you aren’t developing locally?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:31
@zenweasel it's prolly that line of code.
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:31
the fix must be already pulled into development which is why I wasn’t seeing it
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 02:32
@zenweasel I will start developing locally once I'm sure I can deploy code to the container successfully.
I'm mostly there yesterday it wasn't working at all today I'm up and running with ssl
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 02:33
I see
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh

Oct 17 2016 02:34
well it’s 10 o’clock at night where Jeremy is, so he’s probably not working on it right now. But we can see if we can get past this last hurdle tomorrow

Brent Hoover

@zenweasel when i do reaction reset should i be reloading npm modules? only thing that I can think of at the moment but I believe I have been doing that just to be safe. i will keep going and keep an eye on this and see if there is something that points to an issue
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 17 2016 03:39
no, you shouldn’t need to reload the npm modules unless you are switching branches, and even then usually not

Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 18:48
@all how do I create a docker container with development branch?
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 19:36
reactioncommerce/prequel:latest is the automated build of the development branch.
or
git checkout development
docker build -t someName .
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 20:27
@jshimko Im still not able to build a custom build, I keep getting errors..you have time to help me out with some debugging? I can try a few builds and send you some errors?
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 20:28
what are your errors?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh

do you have any custom code?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 20:30
I have the git repo that I can build
or i think its an app made with the cli
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 20:30
are you on the development branch?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 20:30
no
want me to try and build a dev branch?
working on it now
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 20:32
Try that. Master branch should definitely work, but there are a ton of updates/fixes in the development branch that are worth having.
So no custom code?
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 20:34
No not really at the moment just trying to make sure I can push custom code to the container and everything is ok..ssl..no errors..etc.. and then Im gonna start customizing it.
so when I do the custom build I only need to hook up to the container with docker machine correct?
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 20:36
Sorry, I don’t understand the question
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 20:38
I just run eval "$(docker-machine env containerName)" before I do the build and run
or do I have to do all the stuff in the gist you posted a few days ago?
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 20:38
eval "$(docker-machine env machineName)"
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 20:38
k
didnt you say something about a video?
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 20:39
Yeah sorry. I don’t even know why I promise stuff like that. I don’t have the half a day to write/record/edit that right now. It’s going to have to be another time.
Ivanthadev
@ivanthemeh
Oct 17 2016 20:41
ok I can def understand that
Jeremy Shimko
@jshimko
Oct 17 2016 20:47
Recording myself making a complicated thing “look easy” is one thing, but making an instructional video that's digestable for the people that need it the most is a really time consuming project. It needs to be fairly well planned and edited and should also have some accompanying documentation. So don’t get me wrong, it’d absolutely be worth the effort (since I answer these same questions fairly often), but I unfortunately don’t have the time to drop everything for the day to do that right now. I thought I might be able to knock it out over the weekend, but family time ended up stopping that from being possible.
So in the meantime, you may want to check out the intro docs for Docker Machine to get an idea of common workflows.
