Is it possible to host the app locally that's not localhost? Currently trying to access the app from my dev server remotely, I set ROOT_URL on boot and the CLI confirms that its being hosted on my IP, but I can't access it from my computer. Does is have anything to do with "Starting Proxy" that I see during load?

@zcharli Not sure exactly what you mean
if you are booting it in development mode (the default) it’s still going to be on port 3000

Hi @zenweasel, I have a OpenStack VM that I used for my development. I'm trying to build and serve reaction on the VM while accessing/testing remotely. I've verified the port I am using works. I was hoping I could do something like (ROOT_URL=192.168.111.222:8080 reaction) to start then I would be able to use the floating IP assigned by the cloud to access this app

I think you want to set your ROOT_URL to be the full path w/o the port, and set the port separately
are you using a proxy? since that IP won’t be accessible remotely

I have a public floating IP that redirects traffic to my local IP, what's fishy to me is that I don't don't know what is happening when the cli prints out "Started proxy." likely the source of all my pains.

no, that has nothing to do with a networking proxy

Ok I just got this to work. I had to install nginx, then proxy pass localhost to another port. Then the proxy buffers were too small so I had to increase them.
Brent Hoover

you don’t necessarily need to run nginx but that’s what I usually do

Any tips on remote debugging? I'm developing on Intellij.

I believe Webstorm supports remote debugging via the Node debugger

Haha, I would do if the app built faster. reaction debug is great, but anyways to tweak the listen port? Change it from 5959 to 8080
Brent Hoover

pass the —port parameter

why did you have to delete it?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Oct 30 2016 23:51
for the record, you don’t need to delete the node_modules directory although it won’t hurt anything either. You can just do reaction reset -n
