@zenweasel Thanks. I'm running El Capitan 10.11 Macbook pro 15". So far I've been using Linux for development, so I'm pretty new to Mac....
I guess that I'm not the only one who faced this issue when trying to run Reaction on mac. I googled around and came across various solutions (like this one: https://blog.dekstroza.io/ulimit-shenanigans-on-osx-el-capitan/), but I wonder if there is any official solution recommended by Apple. I just don't want to start hacking my new mac, without really knowing what the implications are....Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Gang, I'm getting the notice on rc run that "Meteor 1.4.3.1 is available." but when I try meteor update I'm getting this issue:

/home/mikeumus/.meteor/packages/meteor-tool/.1.4.3_1.vvw4dj++os.linux.x86_64+web.browser+web.cordova/mt-os.linux.x86_64/isopackets/ddp/npm/node_modules/meteor/promise/node_modules/meteor-promise/promise_server.js:190
      throw error;
      ^

SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input

Which looking it up it seems the known way to fix it is a reinstall of meteor: meteor/meteor#7647

I tried a rc reset -y thinking that might un/reinstall meteor but no luck. Is there a way without rebuilding the server to reinstall meteor?

I've just started evaluating Reaction. I've followed the instructions for installing on my Mac, started the app using 'reaction run' and get the following exception:
/Users/oren/.meteor/packages/coffeescript/.1.11.1_4.1kteknt++os+web.browser+web.cordova/plugin.compileCoffeescript.os/npm/node_modules/meteor/promise/node_modules/meteor-promise/promise_server.js:190
throw error;
^

Issue resolved. I followed this link: https://blog.dekstroza.io/ulimit-shenanigans-on-osx-el-capitan/
Everything seems to be OK now. The server is up and running. Thanks for the help @zenweasel
