quick question: is faceted filtering/search and sorting on the roadmap?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 02:06
what were you looking for beyond what is already there? You can already filter by tags
terrelltechsup
@terrelltechsup
May 03 2017 02:11
index intersection: hierarchical categories, tags, product ratings, price slider
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 02:12
well, tags are already built in
terrelltechsup
@terrelltechsup
May 03 2017 02:19
dont get me wrong i very much like the tag search/filtering, but when you start talking about a holistic view of many many stores in say the marketplace environment there will be a need to be able to filter beyond tags
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 02:19
yeah, for sure

@terrelltechsup
May 03 2017 02:21
one instance that a lot of p2p marketplaces generally need is to be able to filter on the vendor's geolocation

the short answer is no. We don’t have any plans for expanding search right now. When writing it I tried to make it as pluggable as possible so you could author a search plugin and drop it in

ill mark these down on my list of things to look into
thanks for the reply

we are also updating/upgrading the grid plugin we use for products and search
which should make it easier to add filtering for price, etc.
the search-mongo and the ui-search are the backend and frontend components respectively

Hey, is it possible to do subscriptions on this platform? Looking for somewhere which allows direct purchasing but also subscription based products
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 07:37
we currently don’t have anything like that, though you could certainly extend the platform to do that

Okay cool, I'm a developer myself so will take a look. Not actually dealt with commerce much before though.
I know Stripe does that, will look at ways to integrate
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 07:41
yeah, we have a Stripe integration but it doesn’t do subscriptions

@zenweasel I've not tried it yet, but the last time I did an ecommerce solution (wordpress + something, urgh) the pricing and shipping was very tighly coupled with things like weight, which didn't really apply to all the products. Is this more flexible in that aspect?
And when I say tighly coupled, some items basically didn't weigh anything, which it didn't like
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 07:44
there is nothing that ties prices or shipping to weight unless you are using a shipping service like UPS which requires weight to calculate a rate
make all your products weightless if you like
e.g. downloadable products or services

May 03 2017 07:45
Okay cheers, yeah it'd be more a case of free shipping
Which is just factored into the cost
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 07:46
with that stuff it’s more about modifying the checkout process as you don’t require a shipping address

Hi, RC experts.
may i know how to update the cart quantity for a particular item at the cartDrawer before checkout. Currrently need to delete the item from cart redo "add cart" again.
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 10:15
if you click on the cart icon that will open the cart drawer and there you can click on the “X” to delete an item from the cart
robotreceiver
@robotreceiver
May 03 2017 10:21
Hi Brent, instead of "X" to delete it, can I just update the quantity(eg: from qty 3 to 2)?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 10:24
No, there’s no way to adjust quantities in the cart currently

@robotreceiver
May 03 2017 10:27
possible to write a plugin to achieve that? if yes, can you give me a pointer on how to achieve it?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 10:33
I think you would just need to override the layout to use your custom component instead of the stock one for the cart drawer
we would be open to a PR for that if you also just wanted to add that functionality
it’s something that’s come up a few times but we just never got around to it

Hi,
How do I change an existing translation?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 12:00
every plugin should have it’s own i18n folder and the translations are in there
JonasKopka
@JonasKopka
May 03 2017 12:02
So you'd advise changing them there directly?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
May 03 2017 12:03
that’s not what you wanted?
JonasKopka

Sorry that i ask again.

But for example I can't find anything under checkout or for the Checkoutscreen. I looked for it in "imports\plugins\core\checkout\server\i18n".

hey all, Im trying to use the Twilio api and Its working fine but Im having a little issue with the meteor method, I want to collect all of the responses from the twilio calls and return them at the end of the method and its returning immediately after the call before the for loop is done. I tried using a future but I dont think thats gonna work because its giving me the error resolved more than once. Is there a really simple way to do this that Im not seeing? Please and thanks.
