hi all, is reaction expected to be able to deploy in dokku?
brad winter
@bradwbradw
Jul 20 2017 04:45

i've had pretty good progress actually with these instructions: http://dokku.viewdocs.io/dokku/deployment/methods/images/#deploying-from-a-docker-registry I'm just getting nginx Bad Gateway when i try to go to the app

If i execute dokku config ecomm2 i get:

=====> ecomm2 config vars
DOKKU_APP_RESTORE: 1
DOKKU_DOCKERFILE_PORTS: 3000/tcp
DOKKU_PROXY_PORT_MAP: http:3000:3000
MONGO_URL: mongodb://normal:mongo-creds@my-host:27017/reaction

anyone have any insight on how i could troubleshoot?

the app's nginx activity and error logs are empty
brad winter
@bradwbradw
Jul 20 2017 05:16

noticed my ports weren't set up properly, after fixing so that 80 forwards to 3000, the app's nginx logs are finally happening; now i'm getting the same issue as reactioncommerce/reaction#1075

forgive the annoying play-by-play just wanted to post progress updates so you can see how i'm coming along :)

Hi guys, I'm very new to Reaction Commerce (just started today!) I tried to 'reaction init' but got this without further info. Any idea what I can try to at least 'reaction init'?

Installing NPM packages...
npm WARN prefer global marked@0.3.6 should be installed with -g

what do you get for reaction -v?

@screw123
Jul 20 2017 07:28
@zenweasel just got it installed successfully by manually install npm and marked with the -g option as suggested. However it's strange I still got exactly the same npm WARN during installation.

guys, is there a way to get more info about an exception? because i’m getting this: [TypeError: Cannot read property '_id' of undefined]
but i have no idea where...
andela-rhenshaw
@andela-rhenshaw
Jul 20 2017 10:31
@v3yr0n what were you trying to do when you got the error ?
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:31
creating a new payment provider
and i’m calling cart/submitPayment
andela-rhenshaw
@andela-rhenshaw
Jul 20 2017 10:33
Okay, which of the providers were you setting up?
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:34
i’m creating a new one :)
this is a portuguese payment method
you make the order and then you get a payment reference
andela-rhenshaw
@andela-rhenshaw
Jul 20 2017 10:38
So i’m thinking the error message isn’t local to the payment provider you’re setting up. But related to #2569
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:38
then when you pay that reference reaction gets notified and we need to update the status
andela-rhenshaw
@andela-rhenshaw
Jul 20 2017 10:39
I’m currently working on a fix on it. Will notify you when its fixed
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:39
the problem is, when i call cart/submitPayment it tries to get the user cart: const checkoutCart = Collections.Cart.findOne({
userId: Meteor.userId()
});
but the user cart does not exist so i get the " Cannot read property '_id' of undefined"
i don’t think that i’m having that error @andela-rhenshaw
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:41
why does the user’s cart not exist?
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:42
because this method is called by the payment reference provider
when the reference gets paid
do you understand how this works? i can make some diagram :)
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:43
Yes, I understand how that method works
that method needs to be called from the client-side
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:45
right, but when does the Meteor.userId() has a value?
when the user is logged in, right?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:46
that method gets the current Meteor user. Whether they are logged in or not
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:46
ok, so
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:47
i have a public url called /multibanco/done
that is called when the payment is made
(and then responds in xml to the payment reference provider)
what’s the Meteor.userId() in that case?
i’m sure that it does not have the id of the user that made the order...
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:50
If it’s being called by client it will be the id of the current user

not sure what you are doing there

(and then responds in xml to the payment reference provider)

it’s expect to be called from within the context of the user who is checking out
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:51
right, i know that now
the problem is
i’ll try to explain the workflow
user places an order->a payment reference is generated->user leaves the shop and go pay the order-> the company that receives the payment calls an url, the /multibanco/done to notify reaction->i need to set the payment as received
so when the company that receives the payment calls my url i have no user logged in..
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:55
well, that’s pretty much how our Paypal Express plugin works
and you should be able to return and get your same userId.
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:56
well, but when paypal calls the callback url the user is still logged in, right?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:57
their session is maintained, yes
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:57
but i don’t have that here :)
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:57
How?
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:58
because the user makes the payment “offline"
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:58
ah, gotcha
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:58
so i don’t have any userid
no session
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:58
can you pass your provider parameters to be passed in the URL?
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 10:58
yes
is there a way to set the reaction.userid?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 10:59
so you could give it the userId, and then pick it up from the URL when they return
Meteor.userId === reaction.userid
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:00
Meteor.userId = userIdFromUrl?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:01
well, you could grab the Meteor.userId, pass that to your provider. When they return grab it from the URL and log them in
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:05
how can i do that?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:06
which part?
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:07
the login part :)
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:07
hmmm, I was afraid you’d say that
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:08
why?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:08
because I don’t know off the top of my head. Give me a second
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:08
sure :)
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:12
Hmmm, so that won’t work exactly. You should probably just throw them to a login screen then redirect
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:12
i can’t do that...
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:12
you can’t login with just an id, which makes sense
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:12
yes, it makes sense
maybe i need to do this other way
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:12
Why can’t you do that?
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:13
because this should be automaticaly done
when a customer makes the payment it should be automatically set as completed
for the customer, the “/multibanco/done” does not exist
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jul 20 2017 11:14
you’d probably need to create a new server-side method that takes a userId as an argument rather than getting it from Meteor.userID
v3yr0n
@v3yr0n
Jul 20 2017 11:14
yeap
Brent Hoover

Hello guys,

Has anyone ever received this error while starting Reaction?

Warning: .end() was called twice. This is not supported in superagent
^[^[Warning: .end() was called twice. This is not supported in superagent
^[^[Warning: .end() was called twice. This is not supported in superagent

I get this error every time and the reaction takes more than 10 minutes to start.

This only happens at work, at home this does not happen.

I think Reaction should try to access some link that might be blocked by the work network.

Can you start Reaction verbose? So I can try to figure out what is stopping so much the initialization of the reaction in the work network

Thank you

@janus-reith Is that I'm getting an error similar to yours, but in my case it's because of the addition of a custom field.

I thought I might have some relation to my error, with your error ....

Janus Reith
@janus-reith
Jul 20 2017 14:35
hmm, possible
I also removed my product fixtures except for the top simple product -as that lead to errors as the schema was not used there
And then I had that error
I wonder if it could be related to the fact that I exported my Shop mongo collection as shop Fixture
Aaron Judd
@aaronjudd
Jul 20 2017 15:02

@danielpinna type is a special property in the Products collection (see the Product variant docs), where type=simple needs to be supplied to any updates, and where type determines the product schema that is in use. however, I suspect that’s not the root cause. I created a version of your file in /lib/collections/schemas. In this case, I was suspecting that load order could be an issue, so I named the file zz_products.js, and added slightly modified contents:

import { SimpleSchema } from "meteor/aldeed:simple-schema";
import { Product as CoreProduct } from "/lib/collections/schemas/products";

export const Product = new SimpleSchema([
  CoreProduct, {
    pinna: {
      type: String
    }
  }
]);

I have no errors, from this point, so what is the next thing you did in your approach (modifed data,etc?) (and can console out Product with pinna attached at this point.

Jul 20 2017 15:19
It is posible remove fields from Products Schema ? @aaronjudd
Aaron Judd

(product detail page ui components -> i.e.: textfield)
danielpinna

Got it. Yes, that's exactly what I need to do.
Aaron Judd
@aaronjudd
Jul 20 2017 15:20
@ereyes97 Yes unless, it’s really needed, which I’m not sure you’d know until something broke ;-)
but don’t really see a case for that.. (do you?) -> the schemas only validate data that’s being updated, but doesn’t enforce any structure on the actual documents/data beyond that. (ie, you can always bypass validation).
ereyes97
@ereyes97
Jul 20 2017 15:23
@aaronjudd If the documentation team could add an example for removing fields in Product schema it would be great too :+1:

@danielpinna
Jul 20 2017 15:24
@aaronjudd Now here's the extension is working. No error ... More I think that by RC uses AutoForm, find this field on the product screen, but it is not the case.
Aaron Judd
@aaronjudd
Jul 20 2017 15:26
right, the product detail page doesn’t use any autoform, it’s all been replaced with React components
danielpinna
@danielpinna
Jul 20 2017 15:26
@aaronjudd
I think the best option for me, would be to create my own product screen, inside my custom plugin and save on the product collection. Would that be the best way?
Aaron Judd
@aaronjudd
Jul 20 2017 15:26
yes, that’s exactly how I would do it...
danielpinna
@danielpinna
Jul 20 2017 15:27

Okay, when will RC list the products, will it list my product?

And in the shopping cart, will he accept my product?

At first my product would only have one name, one description and this custom field
ereyes97
@ereyes97
Jul 20 2017 15:28
Nice question !!
Aaron Judd
@aaronjudd
Jul 20 2017 15:30
yes, making mods to the schemas, fields, the structure should carry through to cart, order, etc.. (as far as being available/stored as you modified it). You’d need to update the UI components though with the additional fields (a perfect example of where the new registerComponents will come in handy, to overwrite the existing with your modified components)
ereyes97
@ereyes97
Jul 20 2017 15:32
When the new registerComponents will be in production ?

1.5 next release, @jshimko is shooting to get it tested and polished this week. we want to get it merged asap into dev as there’s a lot of changes that will be tough to keep up to date.. should be fully backward compatible though
@jshimko and I were just brianstorming, the next thing should be a “registerField” method that just did all of this across the board..

Perhaps it would be a good idea to create groups by language.
Reactioncommerce / spanish
Reactioncommerce / portugues

well, i think that we should continue to speack in english, because it’s more “global"
so everyone understands it more or less
now, when the language becames a problem we can create a private room (like i did with @danielpinna) and explain the issue in the native language

You mean you sent him a private message. Yes, of course that option exists ... but now I do not know if there is someone else speaks Spanish here... :smile:

well, we can create multiple rooms, the only issue is that information will be spread in multiple languages and multiple rooms
i don’t think that’s the best option :)
so, you’re spanish, from spain?

Guys, how do I get an existing collection? Only the collection, without an associated schema ...
this line create a Collection and attach a schema into collection
export const Products = new Mongo.Collection("Products");

Products.attachSchema(Schemas.Product, { selector: { type: "simple" } });
Products.attachSchema(Schemas.ProductVariant, { selector: { type: "variant" } });
I need this collection without theirs schemas...
It's posible?

Hey has anyone integrated with Amazon SES? When I enter my SMTP credentials, the Reaction store accepts, but emails will not send. My domain name for the Reaction website is verified with Amazon SES. So, I do not understand why I cannot send emails.

Can you send from tne command line on that same server?
SES is really challenging to get the configuration correct

In general are releases production ready?
I am testing 1.4 and the header does not show shop page
In safari works in Firefox
Also no images show up unless on the product detail page, I used reaction reset twice
