If you are on the marketplace branch, go to shop settings, open the Marketplace section and “Invite” someone to be a shop owner. That will create a new shop that this new user will be the admin

How did you create the shop you are running on?
with reaction init?

from the root of your RC project do git fetch origin and then git checkout marketplace
you will need to reaction reset as well
and perhaps meteor npm install just to be safe

Aug 30 2017 04:30
Yes, you might want to try this in a seperate directory just to be safe
You can do reaction init -b marketplace <your-new-directory>

Is there a recommendation on server cpu / memory for differnet levels of products? Im seeing very slow performance with 5k products on a Digital Ocean 2gb instance, with a seperate 2gb instance for mongo.
So if i am looking to have circa 40k products, what size of server would you recommend? I am considering using mongo on the same server to improve performace, would that be a terrible idea?

Hello everyone, is it possible to integrate local payment gateways with ReactionCommerce because Paypal and Stripe aren't supported in my country?

Sure, there’s a tutorial on how to create a payment plug here: https://docs.reactioncommerce.com/reaction-docs/master/creating-a-payment-provider

@ConnectBelal_twitter If you have a dockerhub account and you have logged into it docker login, you can follow my reply to you earlier and push it up to docker hub by tagging your local image --> docker tag mycustom dockerhubuser/mycustom:mytagand push it up to docker hub with docker push dockerhubuser/mycustom:mytag, and pull it on a server with docker pull dockerhubuser/mycustom:mytag, or you can run your own registry, or if you prefer to do things manually you can docker export mycustom > mycustom.tar && gzip mycustom.tar, now scp mycustom.tar.gz myuser@myserver.com:/imports/mycustom.tar.gz, and on the remote server cat /imports/mycustom.tar.gz | docker import - mycustom:mytag

docker export mycustom | gzip -c | ssh myuser@myserver.com "docker import - mycustom:mytag" <-- and the third option refactored into a oneliner just to distil it down to the essence for brevity and clarity (and efficiency above the image is written to disk four times once uncompressed, 2 to compress it, 3 in imports on the server, and a fourth time when docker imports into /var/lib/docker/)

Is the docs site down for everyone else? I've been meaning to @ConnectBelal_twitter to the documentation for reaction deploy as well, which i s readable just fine here --> https://github.com/reactioncommerce/reaction-docs/blob/master/developer/deploying.md

Aug 30 2017 13:42
Pretty much, I would guess so
I mean it's the most up to date branch so it makes sense for most people to use it during development

you can always follow the same path in the docs source repo…

As you can see there, that file no longer exists.

Hi, I wanted to confirm a rumor about Reaction Commerce I heard. Is it true there are no themes or way to design them? If this is a ridiculous question, I apologize. :P
Josh Cox
@joshuacox
Aug 30 2017 17:22
@remixrob the blog post from January is very insightful --> https://blog.reactioncommerce.com/an-exploration-of-theme-styling/ though I think there are lots of exciting advancements implementing react further that need to be documented, and a new react theme template would be welcome
so the short answer is Reaction is extremely themeable, start by following the guide and fork the example theme and post back here with any advancements you make, or if you have a question on something not working in your implementation

also looking at the Meteor todo app tutorial in both the blaze and react methods can illuminate the differences between blaze and react quite nicely

Thanks @joshuacox , once I start working with Reaction, that will be helpful. I also want to make sure our VPS can handle it as well.

Aug 30 2017 17:35
VPSs usually have poor disc performance which will negatively affect mongo most of all, try hdparm -tT /dev/sda, spinning disks should achieve something like 100 MB/sec, whereas SSDs can achieve 500MB/sec, raids will vary on type YMMV

Aug 30 2017 17:36
My VPS uses SSD's
I did a LOT of research before settling on it ;)
Josh Cox
@joshuacox
Aug 30 2017 17:36
but VPSs are by definition shared, so what does the above command produce?

sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sdb

/dev/sdb:
Timing cached reads: 26848 MB in 2.00 seconds = 13440.26 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 336 MB in 3.01 seconds = 111.77 MB/sec

^that's my local laptop drive

sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 30002 MB in 2.00 seconds = 15020.53 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 988 MB in 3.00 seconds = 328.93 MB/sec
^SSD

that SSD is under load at the moment as well
