are there any global variables in reaction commerce that I can use?
something like local storage.

Meteor ships with LocalStorage support and Reaction includes the Session package, depending on what you need
Session is used all across Reaction, for things like product search, sort, scroll limit, setting action views etc

And last time I checked, I think I saw uses of localStorage as well in the ui-search plugin
Yup, this one

I would like to set custom product prices for each of my webshop's supported currencies. How should I approach this issue?

Feb 07 2018 14:35
True that @jshimko. I always tend to use Meteor._localStorage, which is helpful when dealing with old browsers like IE11 — but that's just my preference though

@machikoyasuda i didn't want to interrupt the call, but are there any docs outlining how reaction will look without meteor? are there architecture diagrams etc. ?

@wfhio Not yet but we definitely will be releasing that in the next few weeks.

i started looking into meteor to get more productive with reaction, but am wondering if i'm wasting my time doing that now :P
unless ofc the removal will take years!

Months, not years
just not saying how many months yet

however, I don’t think that Meteor knowledge is a waste of time, as we’ll be carrying the concepts / patterns forward, but in general, our code is 90% not Meteor now...

mostly it’s webassembly

Feb 07 2018 15:37
Lol
only after we finish full React/GraphQL conversion.. then web assembly ;)

I'm excited for this evolution. This is one more step towards moving out of the Meteor ecosystem. Btw, I'm following the #1 Performance Sprint milestone on GitHub regularly... You guys are doing a great job on this!

mostly Reaction is Mongo+Javascript+React
Simple schema is a great example of something that you can understand now and will still be important going forward

In a component, is there any way to check if current page is the front page? lol
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Feb 07 2018 23:32
Maybe you could check the router for the current route?
muffe
@muffeeee
Feb 07 2018 23:32
that would make sense
I just started out actually making custom components with reaction, still a bit confused. Thanks for nudging me in the right direction

Feb 07 2018 23:37
Also.. Whilst developing, it would be nice to just reload reaction instead of re-starting it, in order to test small changes. Is that possible?
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Feb 07 2018 23:37
it automatically restarts on change. There is no way to avoid that since it needs to recompile some code
muffe
@muffeeee
Feb 07 2018 23:37
It doesn't restart for me
:P
oh nvm it does, it just takes 5 solid minutes
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Feb 07 2018 23:38
it only takes < 5 seconds to “start” restarting for me
but it does take a while to restart, although somewhere in the range of 15-30 seconds
muffe
@muffeeee
Feb 07 2018 23:41
It takes me anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes for reaction to detect that a change has been made here
