@zenweasel and one more question pls....Why Does my page refresh and the navigation is slower on Blaze templates...Does Rewriting the components in react would help ??
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jun 06 2018 03:09
Yeah, not sure which version you are using, but Blaze has long, long been deprecated
Abhishek
@thegtagamer
Jun 06 2018 03:09
i have been using 1.6.4
I have been using href for routing while in Blaze...What if i switch the to a react component and use <Link> Routing
Brent Hoover
@zenweasel
Jun 06 2018 03:10
I can’t guarantee you that you are going to see a huge performance improvement tbh
but you should absolutely not be writing anything in Blaze
we never had a version 1.6.4

I updated meteor to 1.7, and also updated npm-mongo to 3.0, but unfortunately found that while creating index, now needs an extra callback param, and it is missing in reaction 1.12~~
does it mean I have to add try/catch for each create index? or any other solutions? please

The error message is like this

@liveljack Meteor 1.7 support will be rolled out as part of Reaction 1.13. You should either use the 1.13 branch or hold on until a stable release is out.

Our latest blog post touches on some major roadmap updates: https://getrxn.io/2JgfHCH
A great read if you're interested in learning more about what we're doing with app performance, GraphQL, Meteor, and our starter kit project.

@sophiehe awesome post.
Especially appreciate the advice re: whether to build a store on top of the meteor version, for longer-term projects.

That must be further off in future announcements :)

Y'know, it's interesting how Reaction commerce got its name from Meteor's real-time update dealio, but now it's moving off Meteor... life of a startup, I guess. I imagine real-time stuff can be implemented again without too much trouble
@dhonig are you moving away from spree?
Daniel Honig
@dhonig
Jun 06 2018 17:22
@njbotkin Nope. I will embrace new technology. I will desire to continue to innovate.
@njbotkin Zend started with Magento, nobody sees Magento as Zend
When you see Hybris, you don't say, oh my that's Rod Johnsons and Jurgens Spring Framework!
;)

@dhonig I'm not sure that I follow, but cool.
I'm not a ruby or java dev, so no familiarity with spree or hybris.
Daniel Honig
@dhonig

Hybris is built top to bottom on Java/Spring

I've only dealt with PHP stuff; Woocommerce, drupal commerce, zencart.
Daniel Honig
@dhonig
Jun 06 2018 17:30
but its Hybris, not the Spring Framework as a product
I view Reaction/Meteor the same
is that clearer?
njbotkin
@njbotkin
Jun 06 2018 17:31
Yep, got it.
Yes, I agree entirely. And reaction will have a more solid foundation without Meteor, I think
How do you feel Spree compares to Reaction?
Daniel Honig
@dhonig
Jun 06 2018 17:32
that one is really hard
Reaction has a core thesis that really puts it way ahead for most stores
that said spree is mature platform and technology. its left the bottom of the market behind and i dont see it a fit for small to the lower tier of store anymore
its not your starter store for sure
the UX with spree is also extremely dated
njbotkin
@njbotkin
Jun 06 2018 17:34
How well have they done with staying modular and API-first?
bloat is a fearsome beast
Daniel Honig
@dhonig
Jun 06 2018 17:34
Spree? Its own api isn't so great and always will require customization for building anything signifigant such as mobile
GraphQL will be hard to implemnt in a comprehensive way with Spree due to the lifecycles of the entities

This is an interesting read reactioncommerce/reaction#320
I was wondering if there's ever any talk of moving to TypeScript someday.
Especially for some of the more critical components of an ecommerce platform, such as payment processing or stock management
