geez man this is going to hurt
I feel like escaping and going to magento where theres an endless volume of guides, docs, etc.
if this is "Magento 2.0" it doesn't feel like it

Hi everyone, I'm desperately trying to set up Reaction Commerce but I can't even go past the make command
Please, help! I want to build an e-commerce and this looks like the only next-gen solution on the "market" right now

I'd like to understand what's the point of the Reaction CLI? I've installed it and when I do cd reaction and then reaction I end up with the Reaction CMS running on localhost:3000
This works, but I don't get what I can do with it
I thought I'd get a CMS + a front-end that I can modify and customize
But where's the frontend ?

I only came across reaction myself, but I think Reaction Cli was a previous tool to get things working when there was only Rection. Now that they are moving the front end as a headless storefront they have Reaction Platform to start up all the containers for you.
I can't get reaction-next-starterkit working so far
for now you can just use https://github.com/reactioncommerce/reaction on it's own

Okay, thanks, that's how I understood it too. Let's forget about the CLI. I have tried and tried again to install the 6 docker containers
I managed to get them all up and running

@anton6

Basically Reaction Platform way of starting up reaction is if you want to use their new headless store front

Dec 28 2018 11:53
but when I try to access localhost:3000 or locahost:4000 (back/front) I don't get anything
anton6
@anton6
Dec 28 2018 11:53
ok so locahost:4000 I can't get it to work too
localhost:3000 - that's possibly can be fixed by adjusting docker memory usage

Dec 28 2018 11:54
Are you on Mac too?
anton6
@anton6
Dec 28 2018 11:54
yep
see if that fixes localhost:3000 issue
but as I said before the whole point of using this Reaction Platform is to be able to use their new store front on localhost:4000
and I still can't get that to work
and I guess because of the holidays there is no one in the reaction team who is going to look at this any time soon

Damn
If only there was an easy way to build an e-commerce without re-inventing the wheel
and without using stuff like Shopify

here is the github issue if you want to keep an eye on it: reactioncommerce/reaction#4886
I used OpenCart before and it was very good at the time, but since then I have moved away from PHP and now want to get back into eCommerce once again

Yeah @mxd369 I'm really sorry for the Reaction Commerce team, maybe you're one of them, but I can't figure out why some devs take ages to develop such a beautiful platform, with next-gen tech like SSR, GraphQL and all that good stuff, and in the end we have something that is totally unusable, because too complex to set up. And if you manage to set it up, well it's super hard to customize too! I just want to add a little backend code, hook that up with my React and I'll be happy, like everyone else. I have looked into EVERY POSSIBLE solution, and there's this thing called Moltin, but those idiots forgot to add a 'Pricing' page on their site, so we have a service and we don't know how much it costs. For real man, I'm gonna learn PHP
I really hope it's just me, and I'll be able to install & learn to customize it because I was really, really excited
