General question: someone can clarify what is the status of 2.x storefront? if it is not production ready will it be better to use the old one? does the old one compatible with the new beck end?

@mulib Depends on how much effort you'll want to put into developing the features that are necessary for yourself.
Regarding Compatibility: Not really. Until v2.0.0-rc9 the classic meteor based system included the storefront, which is now decoupled into a separate nextjs based app.

HI @janus-reith may I know what is the stable version using this kind of UI in storefront? https://d33wubrfki0l68.cloudfront.net/c9c8822db0f9427007e957f41e2a43522fd79d3f/022ec/assets/admin-product-details-tag.png . thank you

Therefore no, you can't haved the "new" backend with the old ui.
While you could still add the removed customer facing ui parts back into the latest meteor app code, which now just serves as backend, that wouldn't really make much sense and would probably also be far from production ready.
Your decision should mostly depend on when you want to ship your system, and which features the current lacks that you need.
If possible, use the new storefront and benefit from a smoother development experience(faster reload times, and material ui IMHO is really great to work with), faster load times and better SEO and content related options due to SSR, to name a few.
@progranime the latest "stable" release would be v1.17.1 for that sidepanel dashboard
This is in general the latest release that is not a RC

HI @janus-reith this one right? https://github.com/reactioncommerce/reaction/releases/tag/v1.17.1
How can I install it ? is this the process to do it https://docs.reactioncommerce.com/docs/1.16.0/installation-osx ?
thanks :)
Should I just extract this compress file, then run the reaction command in the root folder ? is that the right way?

No. These versions had a cli tool that would pull these files from git for you.
the process you linked should be correct so far.
But, may I ask what your usecase for reaction would be?
Did you check if more traditional, but stable ecommerce solutions that deliver an out of the box experience could fit your usecase better?

thank you Janus. any idea when v2 will be stable (im not talking about the additional features but about the stability. currently it doesnt work as expected out of the box)

@mulib No, I cant give any estimate as I'm not part of the core development team, and have some open questions regarding the roadmap myself.
But, depending on your use case, you could already start using it and work on the few quircks yourself if they are part of your usecase.

nextjs and material ui are stable, so are most of the graphQL mutations that the backend provides.
One of the main features missing from the storefront are internationalization, search and more payment options.
You would have to develop these features yourself if necessary.

HI @janus-reith, actually I did installed successfully the latest version following this docs https://docs.reactioncommerce.com/docs/installation-reaction-platform
But I did encountered issues for example this I posted at forum. https://forums.reactioncommerce.com/t/email-invitation-link-redirects-to-login-page/1416
The issue I encountered is that the link given to me in invitation link is just redirecting to the login page
It doesn't ask me for password.

@progranime I saw your two posts
regarding the email: Yes, the email templates have not been adapted yet
you could do this yourself and change their link to the storefront.
About the other question regarding the login service there:
In its current form, these social logins are outdated.
But also, what you are trying there couldn't work.
You are visiting localhost on port 3000
Port 3000 now just serves the backend, while the storefront will be on 4000

when you use the social login on localhost:3000 you will just see an empty page with logout button, as the user you just created doesn't have any adminitrative rights

@janus-reith I see that the login services can't be tested in localhost. thanks
About the email templates, I check the template but its in variable. Is it recommended to add hardcoded link on it?

@progranime That issue is not just that you are using it on localhost. Like stated above, it won't realy work at all anymore, except for if you want administrative users to register using login services, which proably is not the case.
Well you could hardcode the link there, or find a general solution.
I bevelieve that link is generated from the domain that is specified in the shops collection eshop entry, you could adapt in there.

ah, ok. This should indeed lead to localhost:3000 in your case. Doesnt work?
progranime
@progranime
Apr 04 11:25
yeah @janus-reith . it just redirects me to localhost:3000

Ok, unsure about that. Check if all permissions are set properly.
This could be a general regression when te meteor ap became the backend, or just a missing permission to view that route.

Someone in the forum also commented that they have the same problem https://forums.reactioncommerce.com/t/email-invitation-link-redirects-to-login-page/1416
@janus-reith sorry but where I can found the permission to view the route? sorry I have too many questions.

@janus-reith because I want to experience what are the capability of the user as a Shop Manager. but I'm stuck on it because I can't register using the invitation link.
