@sptorin_twitter This room is exactly for elementary question so no need to be sorry!
Try db/:idx
With db/idx, you are selecting value next to idx in db: db: [1 2 3 idx 123] db/idx ; == 123

@KimRoach143_twitter
is there any plan for gui with datagridview in next release if yes when just found out about red full stack like it a lot
Boleslav Březovský
@rebolek
@KimRoach143_twitter I wrote text-table style that probably would fit your needs, but I am waiting for GC with release, as it can get out of memory really fast
dimsum
@KimRoach143_twitter
@rebolek Can I use red in my production workflow I mean is it stable to use?
Boleslav Březovský
@rebolek
@KimRoach143_twitter it depends on your requirements. Red is still alpha, but pretty stable IMO.
dimsum
@KimRoach143_twitter
@rebolek My Requirement is very simple lots of data-driven tasks so I need table or datagridview or pivotview gui , And I am trying to migrate from windows to linux and mac so must be cross platform gui and red does that, that's why I am interested.
Boleslav Březovský
@rebolek
@KimRoach143_twitter then you probably need to wait for next release, it should include simple GC, that would vastly improve custom styles.
dimsum
@KimRoach143_twitter
any hint on when next release will be
Boleslav Březovský
@rebolek
I believe as soon as possible ;) it's going to include Android GUI also, so it may take some time. Probably @dockimbel can give us some estimate
Petr Krenzelok
@pekr
There are two branches - 0.6.4 and 0.6.5, Android. Those are developed in parallel, or that is how I understand the situation. Last few weeks, only 0.6.5 can see some progress though. But - Red Team does some development in some non-public repos too, so difficult to guess ...
dimsum
@KimRoach143_twitter
thanks @pekr , @rebolek than I will wait for future updates may be @dockimbel can give some insight :wink:
Vladimir Vasilyev
@9214
last weeks were all about private 0.6.5 branch, now Doc and Co are back and try to push 0.6.4 a little, it's hard to do any estimation though
Laily
@hilaily
hello, could someone tell me how to use send function. I tried send aa@aa.com "123" but failed
Oldes Huhuman
@Oldes
@Laily123 This is not implemented yet. (in Red)
Laily
@hilaily
@Oldes Oops... thank you.

@KimRoach143_twitter
I have been doing some programming with red/rebol for last two days so far I like it. But After reading Roadmap and trello I think RED 1.0 will take at least more 3 years to complete and fully stable and that's very long time to wait.
Petr Krenzelok
@pekr
The question is, if there is a need to wait. In some areas, Red might be already more stable than R2. As fir the funcionality, we have simple-io stack, which allows you to do basic networking. We've also got call, so you can interface with outer world too. In terms of the next version or two, we will get simple GC too ...
dimsum
@KimRoach143_twitter
@pekr Please don't misunderstand me, but I was looking for UI controls and widgets like "devexpress" and that must be cross platform but it's not. That's why I was looking around on internet and stumbled upon red than I found out it is work in progress and there aren't any widgets that can do similar things like simple table with good GC or datagridview with excel like filters. Also I am very impressed by 1mb executable thing never in my life I have found something like that. I tried to do similar thing with rebol and its table but it was not as sophisticated like "devexpress" or other UI controls and widgets.

Hi
How to get index of text-list?
Nenad Rakocevic
@dockimbel
@abdllhygt selected facet.
Boleslav Březovský
@rebolek
@KimRoach143_twitter it is possible to write you own widgets using Draw dialect, that will work across all platforms in Red. I’ve written text table and graph widgets that may provide at least partial functionality of what you need.
Abdullah Yiğiterol
@abdllhygt
@dockimbel sorry, i don't understand this. can you show me?
my code:
text-list linen 250x350 font-size 16  data rn/1 [
        bilgi/text: pick face/data face/selected
]
Gregg Irwin
@greggirwin
@KimRoach143_twitter, Red isn't going to be ready for everyone's needs for a while. Certainly, it's not going to be DevExpress soon. If that's what you need, Red is probably not for you yet. Just keep an eye on us and, if you like Red, see where you can apply it effectively.
Abdullah Yiğiterol
@abdllhygt
@greggirwin i look this, but i want index number
Gregg Irwin
@greggirwin
view [
    text-list linen 250x350 font-size 16  data ["A" "B" "C"] [
        ;bilgi/text: pick face/data face/selected
        print face/selected
   ]
]
face/selected returns in the index number.
Abdullah Yiğiterol
@abdllhygt
oh thank you so much :)

Just a congrats to Mike Parr and Arie Wingerden for their work on 'Red-By-Example' - Nice Work ....
Nenad Rakocevic
@dockimbel
@virtualAlan @Arie-vw @mikeparr Congrats indeed, your work does help Red reach new highs. There should be an announcement next month regarding that (crossing fingers), stay tuned. ;-)

Trying fill block of blocks with data from external source, but final structure have all equal blocks. Skip some copy command in declaration of variables?

people-template: copy [[name-t: "" phone-t "" mail-t ""]]
db: [Tom 123 qwe@qwe.org Bob 456 asd@asd.com]
people: copy [[]]
index: 1

foreach [name phone mail] db [
    append people people-template
    people/:index/name-t: name
    people/:index/phone-t: phone
    people/:index/mail-t: mail
    index: index + 1
]

probe people

answer: [[name-t: Bob phone-t: 456 mail-t: asd@asd.com] [name-t: Bob phone-t: 456 mail-t: asd@asd.com]]

wrong copy-paste, must be:
```
Broke chat...
Boleslav Březovský
@rebolek
@sptorin_twitter There's no need for people-template to be block in block. Just use append/only. And the copy function should be in the append line: append/only people copy people-template
sptorin
@sptorin_twitter
yes, it previous variant, can't paste normal
people-template: copy [[name-t: "" phone-t: "" mail-t: ""]]
db: [Tom 123 qwe@qwe.org Bob 456 asd@asd.com]
people: copy []
Result must be block of blocks
Boleslav Březovský
@rebolek
if you update people directly you wouldn't need this circus with index :)
