I’m having troubles with the PI brcm libraries to properly work on balena inside the container

@philippnbg
Hi there! I experience some strange issues with the intel-nuc image. I downloaded a development image, installed it on an advantec device (compareable to intel nuc) with ethernet, disconnected ethernet and instead inserted a working SIM. On the device itself I was able to check, that the host os has access to the internet (pinged a couple of servers), though the device is shown as offline in balena.io .
nmcli shows, that supervisor and cellular-modem are connected
Is this a problem of routing in the hostOS?

@resinio
[Alison Davis Riddell (alisondavis17)] Hi @philippnbg our team is much more active in our forums, if you could post your question there at https://forums.balena.io/; our engineers monitor it every day and will be able to help out quickly!

@resinio any chance we have the DragonBoard supported? https://www.arrow.com/en/products/dragonboard410c/arrow-development-tools or at least any 96Boards
Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 is far supperior than PI and ASUS tinkerboard… we just got a few for test and it is ridiculously fast. Not to mention the quality of the board itself
Gutemberg Ribeiro
@galvesribeiro
Or, should we follow this doc https://www.balena.io/os/docs/custom-build/#supporting-your-own-board and use the BSP from here https://www.96boards.org/documentation/consumer/dragonboard/dragonboard410c/build/open-embedded.md.html and build ourselves? Would that still be officially supported by balenaCloud?
Shaun Mulligan
@shaunmulligan
@galvesribeiro the best way to ensure production ready support is to work with our team to support the board through our custom device support program. That will ensure new OS releases are tested for compatibility and we ensure things don't break. If you are interested in that please reach out to our sales team.
Gutemberg Ribeiro
@galvesribeiro
@shaunmulligan
ok
it is actually not a custom device
but a very common qualcomm-based board
will email Trevor now
Shaun Mulligan
@shaunmulligan

in general we try to support boards that have a lot of community interest or if we have multiple requests from customers, because its a large process burden for us and intensive to support, so it has to have a good ROI for us. We haven't seen a lot of requests for any of the 96boards yet, so we havent supported them yet.

@galvesribeiro yup, very aware of the Dragonboard 410c, i brought one about 2 years ago ;) its a very nice board indeed

Gutemberg Ribeiro
@galvesribeiro
ok cool
will ping trevor
but in all cases, if I do it myself following that guide, it should work, right?
Shaun Mulligan
@shaunmulligan
What i mean when I say custom board is one that is not in our "default supported" list and is being requested.
Gutemberg Ribeiro
@galvesribeiro
sure
Shaun Mulligan
@shaunmulligan
@galvesribeiro yes, although the dragonboard might need changes at the meta-balena leave because i think it needs fastboot rather than uboot and currently fastboot bootloader is not supported, but I am not sure. Also note you would need to submit it as a "Community" device type in order for it to be shown in our dashboard, otherwise you would need to have it masquerade as a Generic aarch64 device (but in that case it would not have OS upgrades as our backend wouldn't know what device type it is)
Gutemberg Ribeiro
@galvesribeiro
just emailed Trevor, if you could ping him I would appreciate
looks like it does work to boot from the SD Card
with uboot
looking for eMMC
Gutemberg Ribeiro
@galvesribeiro
looks like we will get the u-boot on it @shaunmulligan :)

Hi there! I'm kind of lost on the documentation and balena github readmes, I noticed support for the orangepi-zero has been merged, but I can't download an image from https://www.balena.io/os/
Do I need to build it myself?
Valentin Alexeev
@valentinalexeev
FYI I wrote a small hands-on guide how to host multiple web applications with a single public device URL that balenaCloud offers - feel free to review and comment https://medium.com/@valexeev/balenacloud-multi-container-with-multiple-web-applications-bf922caa4c1f

[Florin-Ionut Sarbu (floion)] @andreabadesso hi the image will show up in there in the next day or so; sorry for this and thanks for bringing it to our attention

Hi, we have some devices in client that have a restricted, we told them to open up the ports and whitelist the domains like: https://www.balena.io/docs/faq/troubleshooting/faq/#what-network-ports-are-required but still didn't work, looking a little more the problem was that at the beginning the device is using google dns, I guess that that is because at least needs to resolve balena vpn to stablish the connections, can you confirm that our guess is right and we also need to whitelist google dns in the firewall?
André Abadesso
@andreabadesso
@resinio It's up. Thank you! Learned to build it while I waited :)

I have downloaded the balena-cli from this Link(https://github.com/balena-io/balena-cli/releases) I have unzipped the Balena image and set the balena-cli path using the following command:

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/lib/balena-cli

Now when I run

sudo balena local configure resin.img

I get following error:

➜ sudo balena local configure resin.img
No such file or directory: /snapshot/balena-cli/node_modules/denymount/bin/denymount

Additional information may be available by setting a DEBUG=1 environment
variable: "set DEBUG=1" on a Windows command prompt, or "export DEBUG=1"
on Linux or macOS.

If you need help, don't hesitate in contacting our support forums at
https://forums.balena.io

For bug reports or feature requests, have a look at the GitHub issues or
create a new one at: https://github.com/balena-io/balena-cli/issues/
I have downloaded all the Requirements stated in this documentation.
balena version
10.10.1

Note: I am using mac os for this process.

@Niko-La
Hi is Edison boards still supported on Balena. I tried to reflash a working old application with latest balenaos on two Edison boards on two different carrier board (mini and Arduino headerexpansion board).
Both devices never came online. Pretty sure the os was flashed properly...
Is there any way to debuge?
