So say I am a crazy person, and have my own custom resin sdcard. How do I go about getting a proper config.json?

hey @dlarm that's a fantastic question :)
let me ask around and get you an equally good answer
did you bake your own resin-os copy?

Sweet. I also posed it in the live chat, but happy with any answer.
yeah it is bitbaked, burned and loading, just not going anywhere due the lack of endpoints and what not.

actually, off the top of my head, an easy (but not elegant) way is to just download an image and extract the config.json from it
I think our CLI has a way to produce config.json files, which means there is a node module somewhere out there

yeah I'm just installing it right now to see what kind of magic that might do
Do you know the offset for the root partition offhand?
Alexandros Marinos

but it's not tuned to work with external images, only to download undifferentiated images and inject the config
let me get someone more knowledgeable in here ;)

Hey dlam! The config partition is available with a label resin-conf also at this path /dev/disk/by-label/resin-conf - You could just mount and remove the config.json

@dlarm You could loopmount and partprobe the image
which will expose the partitions
