Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
any ideas? I reflashed the os when this happened previously, but that would be like 3-4 time in last few weeks
Balena team
@resinio
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] you shouldn't need to reflash
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] I suggest you open a support request so the team can look into it
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
cool
Balena team
@resinio
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] thanks a lot
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] I am totally speaking on pattern matching here
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] but I suspect a bad interaction with what your app might be doing, and some edge cases on our end that lead to a very uninformative error message
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] but I am fairly confident the support team can both fix the device and give you guidance on how to avoid it in the future
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
nice, thanks
Balena team
@resinio
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] storage management is a theme we want to manage a lot better in the future
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
another q, I asked once before, but wrongly assumed I can search gitter history: I ssh locally to resin container, where are the env vars stored?
would like to load them, like resin ssh does
Balena team
@resinio
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] let me fetch that for you. we really should put the info for how to load env vars in a custom ssh session in the #docs
[Hubot Resin (Hubot)] Email sent to docs@resin.io
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] (a little internal automation there :) )
Thibault Jochem
@Tryumk_twitter
Is there a problem with resin.io service ? I see the logs of my devices, but they appear offline o_0
Balena team
@resinio
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] let me get that checked. We had an issue with the VPN hitting capacity limits earlier but I thought it was resolved
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
@Tryumk_twitter thank you!
@Tryumk_twitter @alexandrosm I think sth can be wrong, I've successfully had image build, but old version is still running on the device
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
also, got a solution for env vars that works with multiple declared:
while read -d $'\0' ENV; do declare "$ENV"; done < /proc/1/environ
Balena team
@resinio
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] cool! maybe @shaunmulligan will want to update his stock command :D
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
hmm, does not work nicely with paths :(
too early
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter

this

. <(xargs -0 bash -c 'printf "export %q\n" "$@"' -- < /proc/1/environ)

works with all

Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
@shaunmulligan updated my passwordless local ssh to allow multiple pub keys and load resin.io env vars: https://github.com/konradko/resin-openssh-passwordless
so no more lag when you're in the same network as your devices :)
Balena team
@resinio
[Kostas Lekkas (lekkas)] @Tryumk_twitter great! Right, we also discussed about this in a support thread with your colleague
Thibault Jochem
@Tryumk_twitter
;) anyway it's working now, the 'SetStaticHostname' did the trick ;)
I was pulling my hair because of time differences
On the dashboard, the logtime is GMT+2 for me
but the device seems to be set to UTC, what's the best option to set device to the good timezone ?
(I was testing some event scheduling, was working ok on my linux VM.... but not on the device... added some logs, and saw some 7200s time difference :P)
Shaun Mulligan
@shaunmulligan
@kkorzel_twitter that looks very cool :+1:
Gergely Imreh
@imrehg
@Tryumk_twitter here's a quick project that I used for timezones before, should work for the debian images: https://github.com/resin-io-playground/resin-timezone
Kimmo Huoman
@kipe
never, ever change the timezone from UTC :P
Balena team
@resinio
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] yeah, I'm with kipe on that one
[Alexandros Marinos (alexandrosm)] time is utc. everything else is human ui :P
Kimmo Huoman
@kipe
yup
Thibault Jochem
@Tryumk_twitter
Ok so now I have to find out how to set my VM clock in UTC but displaying GMT+2 on the ui :P
Konrad Korzel
@kkorzel_twitter
@shaunmulligan wrong Mulligan! I talked about it with @craig-mulligan earlier
