@hughker
you can download the theme + pages
also, products + blog posts if you really wanted
read the docs to get it setup — but keep in mind you'll need a Private App setup in the store with R+W permissions for whatever you're looking to do
there's a Gitter for it here — https://gitter.im/internalfx/quickshot
kambasana
@kambasana
thanks, how would that plugin for git work, im assuming they are asking for private access rw
Winston Hughes
@hughker
yes, R+W
once QS is installed, navigate to your git directory, then run qs config
follow the instructions to set it up, once setup i would add the quickshot.json to your .gitignore so your creds aren't stored in git
then once committed, run qs theme download
and it'll download the theme you setup
you can setup several themes if you'd like, afaik there isn't a limit to how many you can have, but you would set it up in each git dir for each store instead of a universal dir for them all
kambasana
@kambasana
ah ok quickshot being client side on you dev pc
Winston Hughes
@hughker
yup
kambasana
@kambasana
I was interested in how themewatch and others do this as they are more app based
Winston Hughes
@hughker
then once theme is downloaded, you can commit that to your repo
kambasana
@kambasana
joined to a shopify app then being localised
Winston Hughes
@hughker
no idea — never used that app, sorry — we helped develop quickshot so thats what we primarily use
there might be something you can do in a GitHub Workflow to automate it, but we do it manually that way we're confident the theme has been backed up
kambasana
@kambasana
could quickshot be hosted
i could put this on a dev vm im guessing.
Winston Hughes
@hughker
if you have a VM, i don't see why not
it's just a npm -i quickshot so as long as you can run that command you can set up quickshot
kambasana
@kambasana
i will give it a try.
thanks
Winston Hughes
@hughker
sounds good — jump over to the quickshot Gitter i sent so that way we're not blowing this up with random chats
kambasana
@kambasana
ok
Winston Hughes
@hughker

@IamDaleon
Sweet action
I was wondering how do you add notes to an order automatically but without the customer know
i.e. a warranty service to keep track of the warranty with the correct product.
Winston Hughes
@hughker
you can just add it to the html and make it hidden
Jayvin
@jayvin
Yes as @hughker mentioned, something like this <input type="hidden" name="properties[warranty]" value="New Vehicle Limited Warranty">
on your add to cart form will do the trick
Daleon L
@IamDaleon
I forgt about hidden type
I was going about it the longer way by applying a button to the product using like if over a set number and another that's below
then use permalinks to add it
Daleon L
@IamDaleon
to the cart with notes. However, every time that the person leaves and pick something up the cart notes disappear
So I was patching it by using cookies but that's turning out to be more harm than good!
Daleon L
@IamDaleon
Back to @hughker approach that @jayvin had laid out and used a car for an example. How would we get that vin number of that incase they decided to pick up more than one car and not all have warranty. Could I use the make, model, color and product id to link the 2 together in that way.
Winston Hughes
@hughker
You’re gunna need to lay out exactly what you’re looking to do. I’m not really tracking.
I’d send links too if you can so we can try to help
Daleon L
@IamDaleon
Ight well my company sells cell phones
and they are wanting to add warranty to devices greater than $700 and lower than $700, $70 and $50 respectfully.
the imei's numbers are like the vin numbers but we don't have that on displayed on the site
@hughker the links would would be extremely helpfully
and what do you guys think about Hydrogen...?
