hi, I have a beginner question. I'm trying to run the "Live Logs in Your Browser" example here http://senecajs.org/tutorials/logging-with-seneca.html but am getting this error var server = http.createServer(seneca.service())
^
TypeError: undefined is not a function
how does seneca.service() actually work?
sorry looks like wrong room
Chris Combs
@combsco
It’s not the wrong room… we are slowly transitioning to the new room.
Ming Fang
@mingfang
oh, i almost repost this question to senecaja/seneca. I'll just wait for help here then. thanks
Chris Combs
@combsco

@mingfang Hmm… so try doing

var server = http.createServer(seneca.export('web'))

You may have come across stale documentation.

Ming Fang
@mingfang
yes. that works. thanks
Chris Combs
@combsco
@mingfang Great.

has anyone successfully implemented some kind of socket microservice, I need results from various microservices to emit back on to a client.
Chris Combs
@combsco
socket like web socket?
;)
Josh Reeter
@jreeter
basically not sure the best way to architect it so that at anytime a microservice tell the socket microservice to emit stuff back
yes @combsco
Chris Combs
@combsco
I haven’t even atttempted to get out of TCP transport. Sorry
Josh Reeter
@jreeter
initially I was going to pass socket.io via plugin options and set up socket events there and additional seneca stuff
but getting really weird behavior doing that.

@mcdonnelldean
Anyone interested in taking this for a test drive in the browser?
The idea is to give you enough pattern matching to get started on the browser
You need to use something like webpack to use it
I’m using it with React to great affect
Oops! Wrong Bord

@SteveALee
@mcdonnelldean but interesting nether the less :)
Steve Lee
@SteveALee
@mcdonnelldean what is this room for compared to senecajs/Seneca?
Chris Combs
@combsco
@SteveALee I believe this is the old room and there trying to move everyone to the new room senecajs/Seneca
Steve Lee
@SteveALee
@combsco thanks, that makes sense.
Richard Rodger
@rjrodger
@combsco yes for that level of dynamic behaviour you would need a custom store

what’s the appropriate way of responding from a seneca.add() service with a pdf (application/pdf)?
Wyatt Preul
@geek
I would reply with a URI or reference on where to download the pdf from
@fourq there is also a #senecajs/seneca channel which is more active

Hey guys! I'm just working my way through the "get-started" part. I have some big projects I'd like to convert to mostly seneca microservices but my impression is that there were some breaking changes over the last couple of months. I've read some issues of yours (nearForm) about creating new getting-started documents and I'm curious about whether you'd appreciate some help :). My way of saying hello!
