Hello I am Abhijit from NIT Jalandhar and would like to contribute over Development of graphical user interfaces for robot controlling and monitoring project ,as this project is in my domain knowledge. I have four stars on codechef and already worked with the c++ and python in great detail, I am already well versed with graphs and algorithms that provide the basis of the project as to move,rotate,and toggle the robots.

Hey guys! I am Rahul Katiyar from IIT Dhanbad. I like to contribute to develope Graphical User Interface for the simulator, I have previously worked with QT, C++ and python.
I have build and run the simulator. But unable to find the files which contain code for the rcis graphical window which appear after executing rcis cmd. Can anyone help me with that?

@ljmanso I have done some changes in guiDlg.ui and build it again using "make", but still the change is not reflecting in the rcis window. am i missing something?

Hey, I am a senior EECS undergrad, about to pursue a Masters in Robotics. @ljmanso Is it alright if I discuss multiple GSoC 2020 ideas with their mentors? Particularly because I have expertise in both ROS as well as computer vision algorithms and I am interested in both RoboComp-ROS integration as well as computer vision projects.

@ljmanso thanks for the help. It is now working, and all the changes in the guiDlg.ui are reflecting in the final window. I forget to use "make install". For everyone else who faces such problem,
  1. In the directory where you have done changes make sure you build using cmd "make"
  2. You can use rcis file present in the directory "~/robocomp/tools/rcinnerModelSimulator/src" for a quick check of how it is working.
  3. To get the reflected change globally you need to use the cmd "make install" in the same directory "~/robocomp/tools/rcinnerModelSimulator/".
    This will copy the file from "/home/kati/robocomp/tools/rcinnerModelSimulator/src/rcis" to "/opt/robocomp/bin/rcis".

Clone the robocomp repository and implement the tutorials for creating a component.
Do a literature review of the current state of the art models for Human Reidentification.
After you have a fair idea of the topic, you can start on the first draft of your proposal.

Hey everyone, GSoC aspirant here. I am an EE undergrad and have some experience in C++ programming and Robotics. I went through the ideas list and found the idea " 9. Python3 bindings for the InnerModel library " to be most interesting and suited for my skills. I am familiar with python binding and have kind of used two python binding libraries: pybind11 and boost. The part I am not familiar with is the unit tests. @ljmanso can you please elaborate on what kind of tests needs to be done for the python binding?

Hello Everyone,
I am a first-year MS-By Research student in Robotics Research Centre(RRC) under Dr K Madhava Krishna at IIIT-Hyderabad. Currently, I am a part of the Self-Driving Car project and have worked with many key issues dealing with the project. I also have a fair share of experience in working with RGBD cameras, infrared and LiDAR sensors. For the past few months, I have been working on Fast mapping and registration techniques which works well during high-speed manoeuvres where most popular methods fail. I have also worked on safe navigation amongst moving agents like pedestrians by exploiting real-time occupancy map information.
I have downloaded the Robocomp repository and gone through a few tutorials. I am particularly interested in contributing to the project of Occupancy estimation in medium to large buildings. I would really be grateful if someone can guide me regarding this project.

@nagasai-iitr as you can read, it's a warning, not an error. I guess whatever you are trying to execute would work with this warning. If it doesn't, you can tell us the Ubuntu version that you are using, and some clue of what you are trying to accomplish before you get the errors.

Ya I'm having a warning apparently but I'm trying to do is modify Keyboardcontroller component. Where I'm willing to use Pygame for having the events used but when I do this I'm projected with the warning and remained frozen ( no function)

The current state of keyboard controller uses curses (library) for taking inputs from keyboard while I'm willing to use the Pygame library as its replacement due to its vital applications for more improvement so for the use of Pygame.

I have installed robocomp and was going through the tutorial on creating a component.After generating the template CDSL file I made the changes as mentioned in the tutorial but when I run the command to generate the Python code, CMakeLists.txt is not created with it. Can anyone explain why?

@gargvivek919 Hi. If you are interested in getting started with deep learning for computer vision, then one way is to start solving online challenges, such as Kaggle CV competitions. Or you can pick any interesting CV (or multi-modal) problem from some workshop in CV conferences (CVPR, ICCV etc.), and try solving them on your own, with help (a lot of help initially) from existing code and literature.

  1. I forked the repo, cloned it and afterwards downloaded the components of robolab. But when I am doing a git push, there’s an authentication issue

@Goshikhar23 you can not push to the upstream branch directly, you have to push to your branch and then create a pull request.
$ git push origin <branch name> then you'll see a create a pull request on your GitHub repo page.
