@gargvivek919 Hi. If you are interested in getting started with deep learning for computer vision, then one way is to start solving online challenges, such as Kaggle CV competitions. Or you can pick any interesting CV (or multi-modal) problem from some workshop in CV conferences (CVPR, ICCV etc.), and try solving them on your own, with help (a lot of help initially) from existing code and literature.

I am facing some issues when doing a git push robocomp-robolab.git , there are some authentication issues
I have these doubts:
  1. I forked the repo, cloned it and afterwards downloaded the components of robolab. But when I am doing a git push, there’s an authentication issue
Deepak Khatri
@lorforlinux
@Goshikhar23 you can not push to the upstream branch directly, you have to push to your branch and then create a pull request.
$ git push origin <branch name> then you'll see a create a pull request on your GitHub repo page.

@gargvivek919 This is a public open source channel, this type of hostile language and behavior is not allowed in this healthy space. If you're not satisfied with anyone's reply, such abusive language should not be used to dismiss them. I will definitely discuss your case with the org admins.

@adityaaggarwal97 :Exactly , these people not know how to behave in community. I guaranted such person can't be Gsocer . Interaction with community is also important part of GSoC. I am also the mentor this year

@gargvivek919 If what you wanted was attention from mentors and administrators of the organization, you got it.
First, this is an open channel in which people from many countries and with many different languages participate. Out of respect and for a good understanding of everyone it has been agreed that we all speak in English.
Second, because of the little I have been able to understand of your previous message, I absolutely agree with what you have already been told by @adityaaggarwal97 (who by the way is the mentor of that project you were interested in) and above all, you are wrong to think that here everyone should mind their own business. This is an open project, you have come to this channel to ask for help, and someone has invested his time in offering you what he thought could be useful to you. If it is not the answer you were looking for, specify and we will try to guide you. But perhaps reading the basic documents about participating in Robocomp for the GSoC would have saved you this situation that will surely not benefit you. If you wanted to contact a mentor, you have the list of contacts on the Ideas for GSoC 2020 page and instructions on how to proceed in the FAQ on the same page.

I want to contribute in hand gesture recognition idea for gsoc. I had a few doubts about it. I looked for the mentors’ contact and found the mail. Aditya Aggarwal sir @adityaaggarwal97 could you provide your contact or accept my request for connection on LinkedIn. I wanted to ask a few doubts what exactly i can work on because I looked the directory of hand gesture recognition and some functions have already been written.

@niveditarufus Thank you for the tip but I did install both the library and now I am stuck in a new point when I am trying to compile the code
ImportError: /home/xerous/anaconda3/lib/python3.6/site-packages/IcePy.cpython-36m-x86_64-linux-gnu.so: undefined symbol: OpenSSL_version_num

@kushagra414
@Vishwaak the problem is that the python you are using is from anaconda environment. You need to change the python to default(not anaconda) in .bashrc file

@orensbruli I think we should mention the point that users should not use anaconda somewhere in the instructions. I have seen a lot of new comers facing the same problem.

I tried to add the human-detection repo as a component into my current robocomp installation. I had to move the resources folder into src for these lines
from resources.centroidtracker import CentroidTracker from resources.trackableobject import TrackableObject in specificworker.py.I also changed the url in the config to point to a mjpeg file hosted locally (via simplehttpserver).
Now I am able to reach till the detecting state. However I am getting an error at this line in specificworker.py people = self.peopleserver_proxy.processImage(im, 1). I am guessing that this is because the config file doesnt have a "PeopleServerProxy" hence the error AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'processImage'. Any ideas on what "PeopleServerProxy" should be set to in the config file?

@GarvTambi You're missing the Ice Compiler and your using anaconda python.
sudo apt install zeroc-ice-all-runtime
pip3 install python3-zeroc-ice
Use the above line to install the Ice compiler and then reset the python environmental vaiable to default python.

@GarvTambi As said by @Vishwaak you have to set python variable to default python and not anaconda. In your error messages we can still see /home/garv/anaconda3/lib/python3.7.
