@TriptSharma
Hello all, I would like to contribute to RoboComp, I am a fourth year undergraduate at Delhi Technological University, India. I am currently installing the packages as mentioned in the readme of the GitHub repo as I write this msg (well its being installed in the background :))
I am interested in some of the ideas like "Human-robot dialogue and collaboration for social navigation" and
Human recognition (identification) using multi-modal perception system
It would be great if someone could help me how to contribute to the organisation

Is anyone else facing problems on python 2 or python 3. Because I think I have installed the libraries over python 3 (pip3) but the code in the component is written on python2. For example, it is showing no module named pyside when I use python something.py but when I use python3 something.py it gives code related error
I wanted to know, when we r testing a component, is it,in your case, running?
nagasai-iitr
@nagasai-iitr
@Goshikhar23 Are you facing the problem in case of keyboard controller
If so because the whole core is being migrated to Python 3 So the reason for pip3 install pyside2 ,etc.
Shikhar Goswami
@shikhargoswami
@nagasai-iitr I was facing problem on some other component. But, I got to know about this thing from @orensbruli . Thanks btw for helping!
nagasai-iitr
@nagasai-iitr
I'm saying that you can try pip install instead of pip3 install
Shikhar Goswami
@shikhargoswami
Yes yes I have understood.

@orensbruli

A note for everyone: Please, read and carefully follow the steps in the installation page: https://github.com/robocomp/robocomp/blob/development/README.md

Most of the problems that you are having are because you are not following the steps or not checking the result of the commands executed.
If you are having problems your first steps should be to carefully re-read the installation documentation and try it again, one command at a time.
You should also look at the history of this channel before asking.

It consumes a lot of time from your mates and contributors to guess how to help you.
Participating in this channel with trivial or repeated questions is not going to help showing your skills as a good developer.

I am trying to create a CameraSimple component. But when I run the file, I get this error Cannot connect to the remote object (CameraSimple) camerasimple:tcp -h localhost -p 10005 I guess my config file does not have the correct port.
Can someone tell me how can I find the correct port. It's not clearly mentioned in the tutorials

@kharyal
Hello everyone! I am Chaitanya Kharyal, a Third-year undergraduate student of ECE at IIIT-Hyderabad, India. I am currently working in Robotics Research Center (RRC) at IIIT Hyderabad under Prof. Madhava Krishna. My work at lab requires good amount of Machine Learning and Computer Vision and I am comfortable with it. I am also well aware of the state of the art techniques used in many subfields. I have two-year experience with Python and I am comfortable with the language. I have followed all the tutorials about components listed on the GitHub tutorial page. I am mainly interested in "Hand gesture recognition", "Human recognition (identification) using multi-modal perception system" and "Efficient acceptable social behavior using machine learning techniques" projects. Although I have experience in the first two projects, the third project also sounds interesting to me (I have no experience in such kind of projects, but will be happy to work on it). Can someone guide me on how to proceed and play with the code since I have done the basic tutorials?

Hello! For the folks interested in "Efficient acceptable social behaviour using machine learning techniques" project here is a document to move forward with your application: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Khlwilxl6ECC4Qf3eMrn-s4zzhizqDL3vJ2qHZYjEqE/edit?usp=sharing

I have also included a little bit more information for slots #9 (Python3 bindings for the InnerModel library) and #12 (RoboComp/ROS integration) on http://ljmanso.com/gsoc.php Any new information related to those projects will be included there

Hello everyone, I am Nihal Mittal, a Second Year undergraduate student of Information Technology at Charotar University Of Science and Technology. I am interested in contributing to LearnBlock as I find the idea fascinating of teaching coding to children. I have made some changes to documentation of LearnBlock as previously some images were not visible due to having a path that did not existed.

I m facing lots of problem in running rcmanager tool in robocomp. it is still running on pyqt4 and python2, also among all this, we also need to clone QNetworkGraph directory separately. Even after doing all these necessary modifications I m getting this error,

from ParticlesBackgroundDecoration import *
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'ParticlesBackgroundDecoration'

Kushagra Shekhawat
@kushagra414
I think you should place the contents of QNetworkGraph in the same directory.

Hi everyone, I am Shivansh Yadav, a freshman studying computer science at Bennett University. I am interested in applying to Robocamp in GSOC and looking forward to contribute with you all. I was one of finalists of Google Code-in 2017

@rahulkatiyar19955
@kushagra414 I have copied it in ~/robocomp/tools/rcmangaer/widgets folder
Kushagra Shekhawat
@kushagra414
@rahulkatiyar19955 Did you copy the folder? Or did you copy the contents of folder?
Rahul Katiyar
@rahulkatiyar19955
@kushagra414 I copy the contents of the folder into rcmanager folder, now the previous error is resolved, but because of the QNetworkGraph which is also written in Python2, a lot of errors are coming. Trying to resolve all errors one by one.
Shikhar Goswami
@shikhargoswami
@rahulkatiyar19955 what kind of errors you’re facing now?
Rahul Katiyar
@rahulkatiyar19955

@Goshikhar23
robocomp/tools/rcmanager/widgets/QNetworkxGraph/QNetworkxGraph.py", line 890, in QNetworkxWidget
node_selection_changed = Signal(list)
NameError: name 'Signal' is not defined

Is there anyone who successfully run the rcmanager using python3 and pyqt5?

Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
Hello @rahulkatiyar19955
I would try to run rcmanagerSimple instead of rcmanager.
Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
rcmanager is a work in progress project with little to non attention from developers these days. I hope it gets updated to python3 and pyside2 soon but it's not going to be right now. If rcmanagerSimple works go with it.

Hey @ljmanso , I am working on my proposal for "python bindings for the innermodel lib" and I wanted to ask if there was any specific reason why you choose boost.python for exposing innermodel.h to python, like any C++ features that is not supported in other binding libs?

A line written in the tutorial - The source space (a folder that is inside workspace) contains the source code of all the components in the workspace.

but I don't find any folder named as workspace

Kushagra Shekhawat
@kushagra414
The workspace folder is the robocomp folder and the source space is the src folder
GARV TAMBI

@kushagra414 what if, I don't have in my robocomp folder..
Kushagra Shekhawat
@kushagra414
If you have installed the robocomp. You can find it under /opt/robocomp
GARV TAMBI
@GarvTambi
@kushagra414 If it is missing ...So should I need to install it again in my system or any other alternatives...
Shikhar Goswami
@shikhargoswami
@GarvTambi you might have cloned it with a different name.
Check in which folder you have cloned the robocomp repo
Kushagra Shekhawat
@kushagra414
@GarvTambi You installed robocomp right? If you did it should be present.
GARV TAMBI
@GarvTambi
@Goshikhar23 I clone it with named robocomp itself
@kushagra414 I installed it and search workspace so there are only two files i.e. workspace.md and workspace.py but no folder named as workspace
