@hugoziviani I believe everyone here is to learn something from the community and contribute simultaneously. You are most welcome!

@hugoziviani
Thanks a lot! I'm grateful
Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
Hello @hugoziviani , you are welcome. Read the FAQ and GSoC General information on applications https://robocomp.github.io/web/gsoc/2020/faq2020 and https://robocomp.github.io/web/gsoc/2020/ideas/
Follow the tutorials and that will give you a better understanding of what are the minimum knowledge you will need for almost every of the suggested Ideas for GSoC 2020.

Thanks to answer me. I'm glad. I'm reading this at this moment. Cheers.

Hello, the installation was fine, but running the example I've got an error:

Aditya Ketkar
@adityaketkar
@hugoziviani please make sure your directory structure is appropriate. '/home/robocomp/robocomp/files/osgModels/textures/wood.jpg'. Copying the robocomp directory into itself worked for me, as you can see it's looking for 'files' in /home/robocomp/robocomp', and not '/home/robocomp'
GARV TAMBI
@GarvTambi
@hugoziviani
First check the directory properly
Second Check you installed everything properly
Third if any of the two not work let me know
Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
@hugoziviani, you have downloaded robocomp in Documents, which is not the most common thing. You probably could resolve this with a symlink in your home (man ln). Or you can remove your robocomp installation and do it again in your home directory.
All of you who are here to participate in GSoC 2020 should have read this document by now, right? https://google.github.io/gsocguides/student/writing-a-proposal
Kaviya Periyasamy
@KaviyaPeriyasamy
@orensbruli Yeah, I go through all the elements of the quality proposal will send the draft soon to @pilarbachiller.
hugoziviani
@hugoziviani
Thanks @adityaketkar and @orensbruli , I'm installing again. I say you if its going good.
Dipanwita Guhathakurta
@susiejojo
Are we expected to write about possible ways to implement the deliverables in the project proposal? If so, in how much depth? or do we just have to propose the ideas we want to implement?
Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
Hello @susiejojo , probably each project will have different needs, and the mentors will be able to tell you how much depth they want for the description of the deliverables. In my opinion, the better you describe the steps to accomplish the tasks the better feeling I would have about your knowledge of it. It's not about copying and pasting from the internet to fill the proposal it's about telling me what do you know or understand that will make that project to be a success.
Dipanwita Guhathakurta
@susiejojo
thanks so much @orensbruli I will try to explain what I've understood of the project so far
Piyush Verma
@piyushverma001
is there any way to contact the mentors other than emails. I mailed my mentor two days back and I haven't received any response yet.
Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
No, there's no other way. But @piyushverma001 it's weekend and we are on that GSoC period of time when we receive dozens of proposals and questions in our emails. You'll have to be patient. If you don't get an answer in a couple more days, write an email again.
hugoziviani
@hugoziviani
@orensbruli and @adityaketkar now I got correctly the installation, it was like you told me, just the incorrect way path. I go throw the tutorials. Thanks.
hugoziviani
@hugoziviani

People, I've got an other error trying to create a new component. I tried with sudo and without sudo. Below the command line error.

(.robVenv) hz@hzPc:~/robocomp/components/pycomp$ sudo robocompdsl py.cdsl
sudo: robocompdsl: command not found

Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
probably you created py.cdsl as root.
check the output with ls -lah py.cdsl
if this is the problem you can change the ownership of the file with sudo chown $USER:$USER py.cdsl

@pilarbachiller I completed the environmental setup for LearnBlock and started working on creating repeat block. Shall I give the PR or share my screenshots of the code written?

@RavicharanN

@orensbruli Sorry, I haven't checked the Gitter Channel in the last few days.

I've mailed the mentors a week ago. I sent a mail to Diego Farria and Aditya Aggrawal. Aditya did reply to me 2 days ago though.

Aditya Aggarwal
@adityaaggarwal97
As already mentioned by @orensbruli we are receiving a number of proposals and emails these days. So I would request everyone to complete their proposals early. This will give you ample time to take the feedback from the respective mentors and incorporate them into your final proposal. It will be difficult for the mentors to review it or answer your queries at the last minute.
Pilar Bachiller
@pilarbachiller
@KaviyaPeriyasamy you better include a link to your fork in your proposal
Kushagra Shekhawat
@kushagra414
Hello everyone. The gsoc timeline has been updated. You should make changes in your proposal accordingly.

Can anyone tell me how we can start rcis using FCL_SUPPORT?
I already follow the tutorial to compile Robocomp with support for FCL, but whenever i start RCIS it show FCL_SUPPORT: 0

Kaviya Periyasamy
@KaviyaPeriyasamy
@GarvTambi Yeah thanks
Yateender
@shifty21
@GarvTambi are the mentors replying ? its been 3 days since I sent my proposal via mail for review
GARV TAMBI
@GarvTambi
@shifty21 I don't think that mentors personally reply each of us and give feedback related to our proposals...You complete with your best and submitted to GSoC website soon.
Thanks!
Yateender
@shifty21
@GarvTambi Okay I will do that ! thanks for the response.
Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli

@shifty21 @GarvTambi and everyone else:

We are trying to answer each email and to give feedback on every proposal we receive, but like every year, in the last two weeks of the deadline, we receive a very large amount of emails and proposals, so it is impossible to process them all. The longer you delayed to contact, the more likely you are to have no feedback.

I remind you that the GSoC is not about developing for 3 months for an organization on behalf of Google, but about generating community around free software projects. For this reason, last-minute proposals have less priority than the rest.

GARV TAMBI
@GarvTambi
@orensbruli that I try to convey to others!!

@Akansha2411
@orensbruli Hi, i have uploaded a proposal which was not present in the list of ideas given already. It is my own proposal.The draft is complete, can you please tell me the next few steps, as to whom to contact , as it is my own proposal and a mentor hasn't been assigned for it.
@orensbruli I have done the installation and gone through all the necessary tutorials. It would be very kind of you, if you could guide me as to what to do next. This is the first time I am applying and am very looking forward to this opportunity to be able to contribute.
Esteban Martinena Guerrero
@orensbruli
Have you looked into the ideas of GSoC? Is there any project related to the proposal you have uploaded? If there's any technology-related idea, the best would be to send this same inquiry to the mentors of those ideas.
Akansha2411
@Akansha2411
The closest I found my work was related to robocomp projects. I will find a mentor related to my project and contact him. Thankyou
