I ran sudo 'cp -p -r ~/LearnBlock/learnbot_dsl ~/LearnBlock/learnbot_dsl/learnbotCode/LearnBlock ~/LearnBlock/learnbot_dsl/components/apriltag/src/aprilTag.py' this command ~/LearnBlock/learnbot_dsl/components/emotionrecognition2/src/emotionrecognition2.py /usr/bin
Finally, it's working I'm able to run LearnBlock, but now it's showing JSONDecodeError

Hello everyone, I am Aditya Aggarwal, co-mentor of the project Sign Langauge Recognition Project. In the past few days, we have received an overwhelming list of queries and messages from the students. In order to answer the common queries, we have created a FAQ document for your reference. You can contact us over the mail for specific queries or getting your proposal reviewed, however, please expect a slightly delayed response.

Hello,
I get this error when run "sudo make install"
Error: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pyparsing'
I have installed it and checked by this line : python3 -c "import pyparsing; print(pyparsing.version)"
2.2.0

How Can I solve that?

Manjunadh Kandavalli
@manju838
@abdelrahmanzied Please check the install location,if you have both pip and pip3,then maybe the location it got installed may be different from your default path
Abdelrahman Abozied
@abdelrahmanzied
@manju838 I think that also and I reinstall it in the robocop folder, but still have the error.
Where I should install it?
Manjunadh Kandavalli
@manju838
@abdelrahmanzied I think this is the location to install: usr/local/lib/python3.8/dist-packages .In case you have multiple python versions,then you have multiple dist-package folders.Use pip3 install pyparsing==2.2.0 in the default location
For checking location of package print(pyparsing.path) instead of priting version.Hope this helps
Manjunadh Kandavalli
@manju838
pyparsing.path to be precise,sorry typo before

Thanks for the help, but I can't find the library it's installed with anaconda.
Manjunadh Kandavalli
@manju838
I don't have idea about conda install locations but for the package to work,installations are usually in the respective python-version's dist-packages directory.Please check your default python version used and install at that location as said before.And conda usually creates a virtual environment and installs packages in it so the default python interpreter would no longer be that.Hope this helps.

That's true, Anaconda install libraries in its own environment but I install all libraries in native python, not anaconda and still have the error.

You can find all the conda libraries at this location: C:\Users[USERNAME]\Anaconda3\Lib\site-packages
And Python libraries at this location: C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Programs\Python[Python version]\Lib\site-packages

Bhavishya Pandit
@bhav09

Or you choose to follow the steps to find out the location of the installed packages:

  1. Open terminal
  2. Write Python press enter
  3. Import that package whose location you want to see
    ...... eg: import numpy
  4. After the package is imported, write numpy.double underscore file double underscore and then press enter.

You now have the package's location

I reinstall everything and import "pyparsing" and get the path, but still have the error

Hey @abdelrahmanzied, I am able to see the location of the package. Have a look at the last line of the screenshot.

Yes, I see it, but I don't know why the library can't see it in the above error?
Where I should install it and how?
Abdelrahman Abozied
@abdelrahmanzied
I tested everything in the article and install stable branch, the error still exist :(
Abdelrahman Abozied
@abdelrahmanzied

Finally, I fixed the error :)
I uninstall anaconda and reinstall everything again and I used the stable branch of the library that was suggested by Eng @DarkGeekMS

Thanks @manju838 @bhav09 for your help.

How to fix this?

@DarkGeekMS
Hello, I am Abdulrahman Hassanin, currently, I am a B.Sc. degree student in computer engineering at Helwan university in my final year.
I hope it isn't too late but I am interested in the monocular depth estimation project. I have made some literature review but I have some questions:
1) The task is to target the outdoor scenarios like KITTI dataset, indoor scenarios like NYU dataset, or both scenarios.
2) I need to find the perception modules that will be integrated with the depth estimation module. I found this repo but it is mostly written with C++, so does it required to implement and integrate the depth estimation using C++? https://github.com/robocomp/perception
3) As mentioned in the description, the testing will be on different scenarios compared to the physical sensors. Does it require evaluating the project performance on a specified dataset provided by RoboComp?

How to fix this?

move to "main" branch of robocomp and follow the compile and install steps again

@DarkGeekMS
@abdulrahman-hassanin
Hello Abdulrahman,
1) Both, however we should focus more on indoor activities.
2) No, you can use Python and integrate it to RoboComp. It's done in many RoboComp components like https://github.com/robocomp/robocomp-robolab
3) We mainly use simulator (CoppeliaSim) to test components, however we can test them on different physical scenarios, if possible.

Saurabh Suresh Powar
@Spnetic-5
Can somebody tell me how long proposal should be, are there any restrictions on proposal length?
Bhavishya Pandit
@bhav09

@Spnetic-5 A proposal can be of any length but it has to be good in terms of content that is being provided, your knowledge of the subject and the project you are submitting a proposal for. It will always be good to write a proposal keeping the perspective of a mentor. Nonetheless, you can learn more about writing a proposal from the following links:

Guidelines to write a proposal:
https://google.github.io/gsocguides/student/writing-a-proposal#:~:text=Summarize%20your%20education%2C%20work%2C%20and,like%20should%20definitely%20be%20mentioned.

@ThChatz
hey!
I was thinking of writing a proposal for "Deep Reinforcement Learning for precise robot grasping and object manipulation"
and I was wondering if the mentors were willing to share some pointers and/or tips for writing a good proposal.
thanks!
Bhavishya Pandit
@bhav09

@ThChatz, you can write a proposal and mail it to the mentors of the project. In that sense, not only your proposal would be reviewed but also would save a lot of your and their time. The best part about this approach is that the mentors will give you feedback that will help you improve your proposal in terms of content and representability.

You can find the email ids of the mentors of your project from this link:
https://robocomp.github.io/web/gsoc/2021/ideas/
Hope this helps :)

Hello, I have sent my draft proposal on GSoC website, sent a mail also for Project Idea <Computer vision for detecting elements of a vehicle’s environment with RoboComp>. It's been 3 days since then, I haven't got any review or reply from mentors. How should I proceed?
Bhavishya Pandit
@bhav09
@Spnetic-5, now when you have drafted the proposal on GSoC's portal, it will be taken as an application and will not be reviewed. For reviewing you had mail it to the mentors either on their mail ids or would have texted them on gitter. Nevertheless, mentors would surely review your application when the reviewing period starts on post 13th April.

Hi, is making a PR(Pull Request) in RoboComp necessary for GSoC selection?
Bhavishya Pandit
@bhav09
Hey @abhishek-ep19, raising a PR is an emblem that you have gone through the code base and are willing to contribute to its enhancement. It is always a good gesture and it adds on if you do so. However, if you have worked on the project that you are applying for and mention things related to research that you have done would be of equal importance. In the end, it is about how you are contributing to the organisation and how are you willing to keep doing it.
