Walkthrough of setting up Extension:

@lukert33

As we get into testing, I looked up console.assert(), which was in the google sample code in the above link (popup.js). It’s a way to run an inline test. If the assertion is false, it logs the passed error message, if true it does nothing.

For example :

    var imageUrl = “http://something.com";
    var width = “two hundred";
    var height = 300;
    console.assert(
        typeof imageUrl == 'string' && !isNaN(width) && !isNaN(height),
        'Unexpected respose from the Google Image Search API!’);

Would log an error because of the width variable.

We're adding "content security policy" to our manifest file and here's why: https://mikewest.org/2011/10/secure-chrome-extensions-content-security-policy

We’re actually holding off on the above for now
But I just sent a PR, working manifest with decencies.

Two UI ideas:
1 - The highlighting should stay on the text even if the user closes the echo box
that makes a better experience because we don’t fuck with their normal functionality as much
2 - Have the Echo icon coloration button be responsive to the word count thresholds, either in addition to or instead of the highlighting color as wed’ talked about.

I’ll look at now…. Dylan just said to Don J, “I know you don’t want to do this, but let me explain my vision real quick.” And then spoke for a long time.
