What's the project?
And of course you're welcome to come and chat about projects :)
@githubemma definitely share your project, all sorts gets worked on at the meetup
Thank you :) Yeh my project is aiming to link common information together onto one page. I'll try and explain more about it on the 19th. A fair bit of the site is already done but there's some parts which I'm not too sure about and was wondering if anyone might be interested in it too
I'm going to try make a page specifically for the 19th so I'll send the link over once I'm done
hi all, what's the "program" for this evening's meetup?
@rcigor I think some of us may keep working on getting a site up, otherwise I think some others might be interested in doing some more katas
also sounds like @githubemma has a project to share :D
I'll be up for helping with the site, what's the best way to catch up?
there are a few issues open there. basically, we have a domain, we have a basic Rails app, now we just need to make it awesome :D
Hi all, Stan here - I'm a Ruby noob, working hard to become a ninja someday. Hope you're all doing well! I was wondering if the meetups are suitable for amateurs like myself?
absolutely! more than welcome for Rubyists of all skill levels :)
Hi all, I'm well excited for my first meeting tomorrow, just wondering if I need to bring my own machine? Thanks in advance!
Not mandatory, but it's certainly useful if you want to do more than just chat :)
hey @stanpeev, like @lpil said, best to bring your own if you want to hack :D unfortunately we don't have loaner laptops or anything
@Greyschale@lpil thanks for the clarity! I am bringing my own :)
Hi all - I'm also a rank amateur coming to my first hacknight, and just thought I'd stick a quick hi up here as I'll be too late for the 'introduce yourself' bit tonight. Looking forward to it!
Hello! I just made it through the waiting list! Tonight I'd like to introduce a gem I've been working on in the last few months. https://github.com/lbarasti/yopt I'd love to get some feedback from you. In case you are interested have a look at the README :)
Unfortunatly still on the wating list but just thought I'ld hang out here remotley :)
@jcampbell05 no worries, next time feel free to drop by! usually we have plenty of space so the waiting list is technically not always dependable :P
Ah in that case I'll come over, I'm not far away :)
So I've arrived anyone got any great projects I can join ?
hey @jcampbell05 just added you to the rubyhacknight org and team. you should be able to contribute to the repo now!
@Greyschale I have a PR - Adds some basic information and bootstrap for styling, let me know your thoughts. rubyhacknight/rubyhacknight#4
sweet! I'll take a look
@Greyschale cracked the bootstrap issue.
Hey folks, I'm struggling a bit with model validations at the moment, does anyone know a good blog post/tutorial for this?
@jcampbell05 sorry didn't see your message. awesome though! :D
@AlanGabbianelli thanks, yes I might have to start right from the beginning again.
Hi all - thought I'd post a wee message as I'll again be coming from work and will probably arrive too late for introductions etc. I'm currently learning to use Sinatra and trying to get clear on how to test in it with RSpec, but will most likely come sit on the newbie table again and see what everyone's up to. Looking forward it!
@Greyschale no problem
Hi all, today will be my first one, so please be nice and gentle😁😂
