IIUC the reason it's being called "integral value" is because you haven't defined the type of the array and no other code has caused the compiler to infer a specific type of integer

is there a way to exclude examples dependencies from the --tests build?

my problem is - I build examples for a Cortex target, but want to run the tests on my dev machine. Building tests with Cortex dependencies fails.

I defined serde as a future in my crate, but I want also to use serde for chrono if this feature is enabled for my lib. For now it's defined this way:
[dependencies]
static_assertions = "0.2.4"
crc16 = "0.4"
failure_derive = "0.1.1"
failure = "0.1.1"
bitflags = "1.0.1"
bytes = "0.4.6"
tokio-io = "0.1"
log = "0.4"
chrono = "0.4"

serde = { version = "^1.0.33", optional = true, features = ["derive"] }
