hpfr since nerd fonts already has the infrastructure set up to avoid codepoint conflicts and other issues, it seems like it wouldn't be too much extra work?

hpfr Ryan L McIntyre (Gitter): ok I see you have this generate_fontconfig script that generates the icons-only "Symbols Nerd Font". I have a couple requests:
  1. Could you generate a proportional and monospaced variant instead of just one font? Perhaps they would be called "Symbols Nerd Font" and "Symbols Nerd Font Mono". This would allow users to set the proportional variant as fallbacks to sans and serif fonts for use outside of code, such as in menu bars like polybar.
  2. Could you provide these fonts in the releases like the others? That way users don't have to generate it themselves.
    Thanks. Also, is there a reason they are .ttf and not .otf? I know otf has more features

Is there a simple and sane way to transform the symbols-only 100-em mono font into a 500-em one?

Still curious, just in case anyone here now knows

hi guys, how do i change the font to the font style i downloaded from nerdfonts if I am using regular terminal?
Andy Kluger
@AndydeCleyre
@bosgithub "regular terminal?" Whatever it is, it should have font settings. What app and OS?

I'm seeing problems (cut off font at the bottom) win Anonymice font under win10, with specific font size, only under gvim.
specifically: set guifont=Anonymice_Nerd_Font_Mono:h14:cDEFAULT:qDEFAULT gives me:
image.png
the gs in third line have their bottom part cut off
can anyone confirm they're seeing that as well, before I open a bug? :)
(yes, this is Windows version of the font)

sorry for the noob question, I installed the hack nerd font via homebrew. But when I do echo -e ' \ue709 ' on iTerm it prints the same. Can someone tell what am I missing?

Hey all, I've downloaded a font, but I'm using a terminal emulator which makes me specify font family by name, and I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly which name I'm supposed to use. Is there a shortcut for figuring out what my computer calls a font family?

@wschwab
(It's Terminess/Terminus, if that's of any help)

What version is the FiraCode nerd font based off of? The base font is v4 at this point, but I'm not sure about this.

Hey folks -- am I missing something? The previews of a bunch of fonts on https://gitter.im/ryanoasis/nerd-fonts seem to be just wrong. e.g. Proggy, ProFont, others. (Very visible on Proggy -- Proggy looks like this: https://proggyfonts.net/download/ )
Also, are any of the fonts on nerd-fonts proportional? (Ones I keep trying are the ones with the broken previews :D ) Thanks!

Hello, I'm trying to display a glyph in vim (for Elm); it only displays a question mark. Any suggestions?
I tried to copy/paste the glyph into the webdevicons.vim file with the same displayed result.

@EdmundsEcho
Is there a test I can run to display the available glyphs?

I searched issues on the main nerd-fonts repo, and I searched the chat history here, both with no results, so I apologize if this is already covered somewhere and I just missed it somehow. The "complete" patched version of Cascadia Code seems to be missing the standard box-drawing characters. Is this any known issue? And is there a standard procedure for fixing this kind of problem? I would be happy to take a crack at it myself.

Is there some problem with compatibility on Windows? I installed using scoop but couldn't use the font in vscode, in windows terminal, in alacritty etc. I tried to install manually for all users but still can't use them.
What's up with this?
I am referencing the fonts like FiraCode NF, or is there another name for the fonts?
Aasutosh Jha
@aasutossh
While FiraCode NF works for most of them, others like agave NF (second fav), Iosevka NF (my fav) doesn't work. One other font I found to be working is MesloLGS NF (installed from powerlevel10k repo readme).

hello!
I have a question about nerd-fonts, How do I convert the class of a symbol to an actual symbol?
Like, in a bash script

I have a small issue with the font patcher- I added a new glyph to font-logos/fontlinux upstream (whose URL I took from the font patcher). I ran font patcher on the font with the fontlinux flag but it doesn't see the new glyph which the font does have. Should I make an issue, or is this a simple mistake?

anyone have experienced the tripple equal sign glyph ('===') eating the following characters?

Hi @ryanoasis , did you consider switching to devopicon instead of devicon ? devicon is unmaintained. see vorillaz/devicons#133

Regarding this, I'd love to add to the set of icons in vorillaz/devicons, but sadly it seems like that's a dead end. @ryanoasis - assuming you don't accept one-off icons, is there a process for adding a new icon set to nerd-fonts?

To add new icons I looked at the fontpatcher to see what URLs the patcher takes glyphs from, and got my glyph added to the upstream. I thought that I had to run the patcher again but that didn't work as I posted above. SO I don't know how to get changes from upstream into the main nerdfonts project, but I THINK that for local use you can just edit the font patcher and put your own git url there for your new icons.
