Masternodes/miners run on the network do get a 50/50 split of fees for SPTs(syscoin platform tokens) being used, but those fees are tiny. You can check out the site below for fee savings;

[mx] <ttt> does the SN support section merging? the RECOMMENDED_SECTION_SIZE seems quite low if there is no merging

[tg] <riddim> Afaik for now only splits are possible and with relocation the network is being balanced out

[tg] <riddim> (iirc the node loss would need to be pretty dramatic for a merge to be considered anyway and therefore the complexity was being judged unnecessary.... But I don't have a link to where it was being mentioned....)
