wow, In what way exactly was Safecoin implemented? Did it got a fork at github?

it's a pull request.
Noah Liam (Telegram) > <Mr Chow (Telegram)> it's a pull request.
oooh alright! That is a big deal!
rid (Telegram) > <Noah Liam (Telegram)> oooh alright! That is a big deal!
Well - but implemented into the current code base for the Fleming release - not implemented as in 'usable tomorrow as real payment option' - the coin owners will very surely be reset on maxwell +beta launch again
Steven A (Telegram)Is it comparable to xmr?
gregoryhouseI would say not really. They are both cryptocurrencies and both provide a degree of anonymity in transactions. I think there’s not much else you can say
Steven A (Telegram)Like wouldn’t having a traceable coin defeat the whole idea of maidsfe?
gregoryhouseSteven A (Telegram): I believe you’re right xmr is anonymous and untraceable transactions. To my limited understanding, safecoin is somewhat anonymous
Cubiex Trooper (Telegram)any trading channel
gregoryhouseOr maybe private is a better word. Only the owner of an account can request to see their balance. So it may not be as private as monero Im not sure. But you definitely wont find all transactions on a public ledger like bitcoin
gregoryhouse Safecoin also allows anonymous transactions to an extent. The receiver doesn’t know the sender’s public key. If I read this correctly:
Steven A (Telegram)Can one account be linked to another via transactions?
Steven A (Telegram)Got example if one account is known then all linked ones are
gregoryhouse So two things.
You would need access to an account’s private key to request their coin balance.
(I think this is true) The receiver of a transaction isn’t able to see who the sender is.
gregoryhouseWhat you have to understand is it’s not a blockchain. It works in a completely different way than xmr. Transactions/coin balances are not publicly visible.
gregoryhouseOne major weakness of blockchain is that all crypto has an expiration date. But blockchains are copied on thousands of computers. They are forever. But their crypto will eventually be broken. This concerns me with privacy coins. Privacy coins are really just "private until the crypto gets broken" coins.
@zero-ghost:matrix.orgfor the very fact that monero has a blockchain recording all transactions......
@zero-ghost:matrix.orgYES monero uses techniques to make it highly obfuscated
@zero-ghost:matrix.orgbut... if anyone ever figures out a weakness.... everything is there to be unraveled, as has happened in the past
@zero-ghost:matrix.orgsafecoin has no chain, thus no history.... the network is completly anonymous. NOT somewhat.
@zero-ghost:matrix.organd all actions taken on the network are just as anonymous
@zero-ghost:matrix.orgcreating a website, visiting a website, using apps, etc etc

surely that must still be good, right? I wish my other alts get some real world use cases like safe is having right now...
