Hi, There

My windows is win 7 64bit. I import Sage-7.2.ova into virtualbox (version
5.1.4) with the default setting.

And I want to access the Sage-7.2 virtual machine, which has been
booted, from my host system by browser, for example, firefox.

I input localhost:8000 into firefox, but I can't access the notebook.

Anyone ever got such problem? And How to fixed it?

I am teaching math by sage in my class. And all my students use windows, so I need to install sage virtual machine in their computer. But some student can't access sage notebook from the firefox in windows system.
I have no clue about this problem. So I need your help. Thanks very much.

doc., trac. , and wiki.sagemath.org are (all) the only documentation we have, yes?

@slel
@weihuayi There is a new Windows installer, which is still in alpha stage, but you might want to give it a try. See https://github.com/embray/sage-windows/releases/

@Mister418 Yes, https://doc.sagemath.org, https://wiki.sagemath.org, https://trac.sagemath.org, are the three main points of documentation. Apart from that, there is https://ask.sagemath.org and the various mailing lists. Some distribution and packaging efforts (eg for Arch-Linux, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo...) have separate documentation pages. An attempt to list them is at https://wiki.sagemath.org/Distribution
@Mister418 Are you preparing a presentation of SageMath?

I'm trying to masterminds and new website reorganization. I would use that chatroom, but my immediate goals are to make the Sage project more cohesive. (For say, marketing purposes, for new developers, etc.)

@sheerluck
is there any chance to move sagemath from python2 to python3?
That's the top message on sage-devel right now...

@slel
:point_up: March 8, 2017 10:22 AM @YOUSFISoufiane you are on the wrong channel. This is about the Sage mathematics software system, aka SageMath. This is not about the accountancy software family Sage 100, Sage ERP, etc.
:point_up: November 30, 2017 9:10 PM @yudhik11 -- is there any particular area in Sage that you have ideas how to improve?
Yudhik Agrawal
@yudhik11
@slel i dont have anything particular in mind, though you can help me start contributing to this org

Hello everyone. I'm new to Sagemath. I'm currently going through the codebase and looking at different parts of it. I'm also willing to contribute to sagemath. Where should I get started?

Hello everyone. Does anyone know which algorithms the solve () function of sympy uses?

@iaraiapc The pointer I gave in sagemath/cloud was it helpful?

Hi! Does sage support Python 3.X?
From https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/15530, it seems to be possible, if I compile it from source
(I bet that will take a lot of time!)
But having that possibility is super good
Oscar Vargas Torres
@oscarvarto
Maybe I was being optimistic. Seems to be a lot of modules that are still not ready

even python 3.7 is fine, SageMath version 8.4.beta7, Release Date: 2018-09-30

@oscarvarto
@sheerluck Thanks a lot for the info. That's great news!

@oscarvarto conda-forge ships Sage with Python3 support. Also for macOS.

@saraedum WoW. Super good news!
Thanks

@saraedum Just tried installing with conda-forge on Mac OSX. It failed :(

Hello @/all I am looking to contribute for Gsoc 2019 may i get some info over it
Marcelo Forets
@mforets
Hi @Dhiraj240 , last year's proposals are available here
Dhiraj Sharma
@Dhiraj240
@mforets alright, but may i know how to get started with the contribution.
Marcelo Forets
@mforets
yes. i was only suggesting that you check last year's project proposals and get in touch with potential mentors.
Dhiraj Sharma
@Dhiraj240
okay, i will look those which were not selected last year.
thank you.
Um...
I want to plot "(x + I*y).sqrt()" function but in different way: I want it to have black-gray-white-gradient-color from [0 to 255] (from RGB (0,0,0) to RGB(255,255,255) ) and color as function of phase since phase is "-pi < theta <= pi"
Andrew
@sheerluck
so instead of color="green" I have something like color=phase
Andrew
@sheerluck
Andrew
@sheerluck
oh you know what... maybe plot_vector_field3d can help me with colors=cm.gray
