im trying to use a Linux Git Gui called Gitg, it doesn't seem to recognize that url. I'll keep researching.

That’s the format for the git cmdline
Gitg might be expected something different (split into multiple fields)
Maybe get rid of the git@

The format it is looking for appears to be this -> git://git.gnome.org/adwaita-icon-theme

when it asks for a username, use git
and the password would be your ssh password

They definitely aren’t fancy, but they provide a way of visualizing your local repository better.

git gui is for general push/pull/commit/config
gitk opens up the branch log viewer

I didn't type that very well. I meant the button inside of Gitk that says "start git gui"
