I just want to know what is the plan for supporting contour plots? I am currently generating most of my plots using matplotlib, but I want better control over them when using Jupyter notebooks. If nobody is working on this, then I might give go ahead and tackle this limitations. I have already fixed a number of limitation in the matplotlib version of tricontour.

@eweyker : A contribution would be fantastic! I’m pretty protective about the consistency and clarity of the public API - so I’m likely to ask for revisions - but I’ve almost never used contour plots in my regular work, and they would definitely benefit from someone else’s perspective.
One thing to consider early on would be how contour plots and heat plots would be related, if at all, and how to render them as SVG, which is Toyplot’s “native” format.

I will look into making something like tricontour and tricontourf for toyplot. This will take some time but I will do a little research and see what I can accomplish. When I get something working I will send it your way for feedback. Do you have a roadmap for future features?

Nothing formal, you can see the milestones in the issue tracker, but they tend to be short-term, detail-oriented stuff. I do want to focus more on Toyplot’s research goals (revolving around interactivity) over the next year, which is another good reason why contributions of new plotting types / features would be very welcome.
