Jame
@jamemackson
@BransonGitomeh having the source open is probably the most crucial. Beyond that i’m guessing that it’s likely a bit of a marketing game to let people know your project even exists much less why people should want to contribute…
Jose Andradez
@HERRKIN
@IanVS it seems my problem is that I have the home folder encrypted, so there is no way to access the files on boot up, pm2 can't work. that's why I have this weird behavior
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Ah hah, interesting
Jose Andradez
@HERRKIN
so I will have to format the computer and install everything again
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
is there anyone with a simple solution to file uploads?... sails ember....hotosane's method is just messsing up
or what do you guys use?
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
@jamemackson i also think that the original creator needs to make the project to a reasonable level before others can contribute towards the end goal
Jame
@jamemackson
hey @BransonGitomeh I would love to see that too but it's not always in the cards. I am hoping to have some time to help maintain sane but right now I have too much on my plate to do much here.
I do have an upload example in my hairbrain/gallery13 repo I'd give you a proper link but am on my phone atm
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
hey @jamemackson can you help me with that link now? :-)
William Newby
@wnewby

I'm wondering if someone could help me stop beating my head against the wall. I am setting two new dev machines with my sanestack codebase and getting the same error on both machines.

A fresh clone of my repo on my local machine does not produce the error so I'm suspicious of the global dependencies.

Config: Docker, Postgres, Node 0.12 (trying to minimize pain points but not upgrading, running under nvm) .

On sane up:

server_1 | warn: Cannot read package.json in the current directory (/server)
server_1 | warn: Are you sure this is a Sails app?

a little further down the line:

server_1 | Fatal error: Unable to find local grunt

I am a bit doubtful about the grunt error since it is installed and wonder if the first warning is the real issue.

Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
I assume you looked in the directory and a package.json does exist?
William Newby
@wnewby
yep, and it is wellformed
no problem installing dependencies with it
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
and you're running sane up from the parent directory?
William Newby
@wnewby
yep
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
permissions are all okay?
William Newby
@wnewby
Yeah, I was suspicious about that and they check out
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Hmmm, You've already checked all the obvious things. :)
can you sails lift?
William Newby
@wnewby
I'm wonder if docker has anything to do with it. Both machines are running OSX and we are still using boot2docker and docker-compose
I tried that earlier but don't remember the outcome. I will do that now
Of course it's unhappy that it can't connect to the db [since it would be running in docker]. Will need to fire that up and properly connect
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Yeah, sorry, it's been a long time since I've done anything with SANE, so I don't think I can give you too much help. :-/
William Newby
@wnewby
I really appreciate you jumping on and offering up what you did. Thanks!
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Good luck. I would suggest to try to get sails and ember running independently from SANE, and if that's all working properly, then there could be a bug in SANE itself.
William Newby
@wnewby
:thumbsup: sounds good. I will go down that path
William Newby
@wnewby
Quick update incase anyone else stumbles upon this.
Sails had no problem firing up on it's own so I'm going to have my team continue working on the server for now outside of sane and docker until I have a chance to play around with it more
Ariel Rosenthal
@ReLrO
Hey, I have a question regarding how-to-sane. I was wondering if someone can explain to me what the refresh_token is for in the auth mechanism
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
@ReLrO when the session token expires, lets say you've set it to expire after 2 hrs, the app will attempt to get a new token itself instead of throwing the user out of the app :-)
Ariel Rosenthal
@ReLrO
Thanks @BransonGitomeh
Patrick Ma
@fivetwentysix
EACCES, permission denied 'server/.sailsrc
when doing sane new name -D
Patrick Ma
@fivetwentysix
and it seems to get stuck on Running tooling scrips for Sane.
Wayne Douglas
@wayne-o
Guys, what are people using for ember -> sails? Is there a reliable Json-api tool? I think the ember blueprints stuff is outdated now :/
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Yeah to be honest, I'm not sure. I started a json-api sails hook, but didn't get 100% of the way there yet.
I'm not working with ember or sails any more, since I joined a company doing React.
Wayne Douglas
@wayne-o
Ah ok. No worries :)
Is it just me or is dev around sails as a whole slowing?
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Hard to say, honestly. It could just be stabilizing and not requiring so much dev.
William Matos
@willmatos
just wanna say nice work to all who have contributed to this. just got it up and running in 30 minutes during a meeting.
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Glad it worked for you. The credit goes to @Globegitter.
Stephen Baynham
@CannibalVox
Hey, it seems like sane's docker stuff doesn't work for windows, even though docker composer now supports windows? I get "interactive mode is not yet supported on Windows. Please use the -d flag when using docker-compose run. The command I used was sane new test-sane --docker -d postgres
William Matos
@willmatos
has anyone run into the following error with uglify when trying to build production.... Building... /client/tmp/tree_merger-tmp_dest_dir-dQjf0awm.tmp/assets/client.js
Build failed.
Unexpected token operator «*», expected punc «(»
Martin Genev
@mgenev
what's going on guys? schism in sails, now there's trails?
unfortunate that they don't seem on good terms, but i have to say technologically trails is pretty exciting, especially since i've moved on to hapi js for the last 8 months too
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
whats up in sails core team :-( so sad
Jame
@jamemackson
yea man, it’s a rough day for sailsjs
not sure how that’s all going to pan out but might be good to shake things up, things with sails have been pretty stagnent for a while now.
