William Newby
@wnewby
:thumbsup: sounds good. I will go down that path
William Newby
@wnewby
Quick update incase anyone else stumbles upon this.
Sails had no problem firing up on it's own so I'm going to have my team continue working on the server for now outside of sane and docker until I have a chance to play around with it more
Ariel Rosenthal
@ReLrO
Hey, I have a question regarding how-to-sane. I was wondering if someone can explain to me what the refresh_token is for in the auth mechanism
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
@ReLrO when the session token expires, lets say you've set it to expire after 2 hrs, the app will attempt to get a new token itself instead of throwing the user out of the app :-)
Ariel Rosenthal
@ReLrO
Thanks @BransonGitomeh
Patrick Ma
@fivetwentysix
EACCES, permission denied 'server/.sailsrc
when doing sane new name -D
Patrick Ma
@fivetwentysix
and it seems to get stuck on Running tooling scrips for Sane.

@wayne-o
Guys, what are people using for ember -> sails? Is there a reliable Json-api tool? I think the ember blueprints stuff is outdated now :/
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Yeah to be honest, I'm not sure. I started a json-api sails hook, but didn't get 100% of the way there yet.
I'm not working with ember or sails any more, since I joined a company doing React.
Wayne Douglas
@wayne-o
Ah ok. No worries :)
Is it just me or is dev around sails as a whole slowing?
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Hard to say, honestly. It could just be stabilizing and not requiring so much dev.
William Matos
@willmatos
just wanna say nice work to all who have contributed to this. just got it up and running in 30 minutes during a meeting.
Ian VanSchooten
@IanVS
Glad it worked for you. The credit goes to @Globegitter.
Stephen Baynham
@CannibalVox
Hey, it seems like sane's docker stuff doesn't work for windows, even though docker composer now supports windows? I get "interactive mode is not yet supported on Windows. Please use the -d flag when using docker-compose run. The command I used was sane new test-sane --docker -d postgres
William Matos
@willmatos
has anyone run into the following error with uglify when trying to build production.... Building... /client/tmp/tree_merger-tmp_dest_dir-dQjf0awm.tmp/assets/client.js
Build failed.
Unexpected token operator «*», expected punc «(»

@mgenev
what's going on guys? schism in sails, now there's trails?
unfortunate that they don't seem on good terms, but i have to say technologically trails is pretty exciting, especially since i've moved on to hapi js for the last 8 months too
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
whats up in sails core team :-( so sad
Jame
@jamemackson
yea man, it’s a rough day for sailsjs
not sure how that’s all going to pan out but might be good to shake things up, things with sails have been pretty stagnent for a while now.
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
but sails is so good man, right now i feel like big-company backed Frameworks are the safest...react+hapi :-/
Jame
@jamemackson
yea, that’s hard to not feel like this week if you’re invested at all in sails. I think Ember is still totally solid, especially if you need long term stability for your project.
react is surely not going anywhere anytime soon though ;)
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
i think every framework has its flustrations, :-) ember has been awesome, time to try something new now... :-)
ow sails, ill miss you <3
Jame
@jamemackson
yea we’ll see how it goes with them. trails looks like it’s got potential. I like that their aiming at doing plugin-able backend ‘engines'
_bran
@BransonGitomeh

the only one feature i love in sails-sane/seeds

blueprints in json-api rest and waterline offcourse

yea @jamemackson backend engines as in i can use hapi/express4/whatever right?
Jame
@jamemackson
that’s the idea
Martin Genev
@mgenev
react and hapi is what i'm onto right now
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
yea @mgenev :-D most stable stack
Martin Genev
@mgenev
hopefully i get to open source my stuff soon
i keep being given apps to make instead
but i just turned in a job description which includes open sourcing our framework and maintaining it
anyone heard from @Globegitter in a while?
Jame
@jamemackson
that would be awesome if you could share some of what you’ve been doing! I haven’t talked to him in a while
_bran
@BransonGitomeh
i havent seen @Globegitter anywhere on github recently. @mgenev what do you have ?:-)
Martin Genev
@mgenev
we're making a pretty crazy system for media publication
soa and web components
Jagadees-zyxware
@Jagadees-zyxware
how can i configure Canoscan lide 120 in fedora 20?
Mike McNeil
@mikermcneil
@BransonGitomeh I get the impression he's been pretty busy-- last I talked to him he was talking grad school
Re the whole debacle this past month about Sails: I've avoided commenting publicly out of respect for the people involved, but I was finally forced to post an update in the GitHub issue where the nastiness originally started.
John-Henry Liberty
@jhliberty
Saw a little of that a little while back
Mike McNeil
@mikermcneil
Sorry about the confusion-- I should have clarified what was going on immediately instead of waiting. Sails is more active than it has ever been, and is currently in use at Verizon, Microsoft, IBM, and others. It runs the website for the city of Paris and is use internally by 18F, a US governmental agency. The same core team is maintaining Sails (myself and members that were gradually added over the past four years), we are using Sails in production at Treeline, and our mission is unchanged: to make it easier and more productive for developers like ourselves to build backend applications.
If anyone has any questions about our team, the history, where we're going, or our mission, please reach out to me directly at mike@treeline.io.
Mike McNeil
@mikermcneil
@mgenev if you're interested in working at automattic you should hit up guillermo (https://twitter.com/rauchg)
