@NicoKiaru
ideally, what I'd like is something like
sciview().state().addSources(SourceAndConverter sacs);
then
sciview().getConverterSetups().put(Map<SourceAndConverter, ConverterSetup> mymap); (like ConverterSetups?)
But the changes need to be propogated to bigvolumeviewer before, right ?
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
@skalarproduktraum (I am back in the online world)
I've changed the SciView.centerOnPosition()cam moves to the "arcball" style (rot along screen's y, dive along the rotated x)
I think it solves the last issue you had with the #279

indeed there was a significant roll in that method after I rebased it (and its branch) on the current master, but the roll was not there on the "old" master... which brings me to the question:

#279 has some conflicts when one rebases it on the master, I've resolved them locally, shall I start a new PR that would merge easily (the rebased one), or shall I just add the fixing commit to the #279 and you deal with it somehow when potentially merging it?

ooh, one thing... the new UI (the collapsable side panels) has issues on my Linux...
  • it is hard to grab the "sizer" and resize it (here we probably cannot do much)
  • I couldn't resize until I commented out UIManager.setLookAndFeel( new FlatLightLaf() ); in the Main.java (the GUI look didn't change after that..)
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
update:
  • could resize until I switched to the REPL panel, after showing it the resizing got funky (even when switched back to the inspector panel)
IDEA for the FPS cam control: I would block the pitch to be only within <-90;90> deg... you can look 360 to the sides (yaw), but only 180 up-down -- this would not allow to see the scene up-side-down
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
(when up-side-down, the FPS reacts the opposite to the "horizontal" mouse moves)

You can force-push your locally rebased branch to xulman:PR_UXchanges_takeTwo and the PR will be updated accordingly. That’s how we do it for projects in the scijava and imagej orgs usually.

Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
aha! thanks @imagejan for the note... I'll do that then, easy
(I always thought force-push is a kind of evil,.... so I do it only in my one-contributor projects after rebase-cleanup :-)
tpietzsch
@tpietzsch
@skalarproduktraum Not sure if it's relevant for scenery, but I've had some crashes with JOGL today and could fix it using the 2.4.0-rc-20200307 release candidate (not on maven yet unfortunately)
Ulrik Günther
@skalarproduktraum
@tpietzsch thanks for the heads-up, i'll check it out!

on a positive note, i have found the swimming bug!
@kephale you might wanna pull the vulkan-sync-fix branch, maybe this also helps with the recent performance issue you've had
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale
oh cool
Ulrik Günther
@skalarproduktraum
still need to clean this up, but it'd be great if you can confirm or deny :-D
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale
@xulman i'm in Berlin now, and have much more opportunity to spend time on sciview. do you want to resync with @skalarproduktraum and I?
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
@kephale welcome in Europe!
yes, I'd like to, eventually... I could use to agree on an action plan so that I know what to fix and where, plus I have some more ideas I would like to discuss first before spending time on them
would second half of this week be good? @skalarproduktraum
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale
@xulman ya, thursday would be particularly good
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
great, for me as well ;-)
I have only a dentists appointment with kid on that day, problem is I forgot the time, I'm on it... otherwise the day is open for a chat
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale
ok great, we'll set a time when you know the time and @skalarproduktraum emerges from his cave
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
:-)
ok
Ulrik Günther
@skalarproduktraum
lol
he has emerged!
how about 2pm thursday?
in in case anyone is interested in fusing AI and simulations, check out the our annual workshop: https://www.casus.science/news-events/events/casus-annual-workshop/
registration is required, but free, starts today at 5pm, see page for program
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale
interesting timing for that schedule
i guess trying to make it accessible to US folk?
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman

I also appreciate it does not eat the whole day, only 2hrs per day
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale

Ulrik Günther
@skalarproduktraum

@kephale, would you make it on 2p.m. as well?
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale
2pm would work for me
Kyle I S Harrington
@kephale
related to the CASUS workshop, a call for a special issue on image-based modeling and visualization is in prep, will post here when it becomes official
Vladimír Ulman
@xulman
special issue? to what journal? or, I better wait for the official call.. just couldn't resist my curiosity :-)
btw, thanks for confirming the Thu 2pm (I'm still w/o reply from the dentists......)

@xulman
ooh, good, thank you very much for the info
