@codeHatcher
that being said, whenever you decide to do the react refactor I might have a couple hours/week I could throw into it
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
That would be awesome.
One of the biggest goals with Scorpius will be including community help as much as possible. I know the past few weeks haven't been very much community involved but, this is because I felt a due diligence to at least get the project to a state where community involvement would be worth their time :)
For those that are curious here is a small basic site built with the latest version of Scorpius http://maltajoe.com

@mmazloum
Hi, I'm using Angular2 front dealing with remote DDP connections on a scorpius CMS, everything seems to work fine. If help is needed on an angular2 intégration of scorpius one day i could help too ;-)
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
That's awesome. This may be possible in the future certainly
Marwan
@mmazloum
great I'll follow this project since I'll use it for my apps, we'll discuss angular2 when the time is right.

@rwatts3
@/all Hello Everyone, so the next release will be a major refactor of Scorpius finally bringing all major core components under 1 package. the new package will be released as scorpiusjs:scorpius This will hopefully eliminate some of the dependency issues, as well as random errors that are hard to trackdown. I'm also planning to improve the error logs to provide more relevant information as to exactly what is causing the error or notification.
If you have thoughts or concerns please fill free to post a message here or #5
Also during this time we should expect to see the Official Scorpius Site, and Documentation area soon. There will be a featured section to showcase community projects and packages that help improve the framework. A form will be available on the Scorpius site, allowing you to submit your work should you choose to do so.
A Contributor Docker project will be released after this major refactor to make the environment and workflow a little easier for contribution. As well as a Sandbox / Demo site that will showcase Scorpius features.

@/all More updates to #20 If you have written any packages that extend Orion or Scorpius there will be major changes (for the better) that will make extending and improving Scorpius much better. As always feel free to share your thoughts in #5

@Teodi
@/all ive been working with orionjs:core and some other packages for meteor...my question is if scourpius provides a good cms for e-commerce?
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
I have built 1 ecommerce solution back when I was using orion. In the middle I'm that project I migrated to scorpius. And wrote very custom implementation for ecommerce. I plan to bring an ecommerce package directly to the core if Scorpius that will probably happen after the next release as there are some reactors that will improve Scorpius.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
do you have a repo up for that?
@rwatts3
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Its a private project. Ill have a sample of what I did available once the next release is complete.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
but the one for orion? @rwatts3
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Sorry I don't follow.
I built the ecommerce for Scorpius. At the very beginning of the fork.
Which contained mostly orion related code.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
ohhhh i see now. did you guide yourself through some tutorial or something i can make use of? @rwatts3
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
No it was all written for that client.
Using stripe and a templates
The one I will write for Scorpius will be fully modular.
With a gateway so I
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
ill stay tuned to see if you push that code or something ...hope u do :)
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Custom components for controlling the cart and the ability to override options
Also i leveraged the dashboard to bring information such as orders and total sales to the admin panel.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
was it easy to do all that?
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Its definitely something needed. And I tried working with reaction in the past and felt it was redundant to have a separate system so that's why I'm going to build it onto core as an option.
After I got going it was. At first it was a little difficult.
When I write the api it will be a piece of cake.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
and by this means you are able to upload products straight from the cms dashboard panel as well? or do you seed it manually from the code?
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
The new Scorpius is going to be focused around a central config so you'll be able to add some config options and spin up the module on no time.
No it was all from the dashboard
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
thats what i wanted to hear. sounds effin awesome. would be good to eventually see something
ill stay tuned for sure
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Yeah as soon as I'm finished with the next push I'm going to focus on expanding core a bit with good features.
Such as a redirects module. Where youbcsn insert redirects for seo related stuff. Make pages and nav better. Ecommerce etc.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
@rwatts3 hey man do you happen to know how can i add activity from the front end to be heard on orionjs admin panel? i mean i already created a collection for it
i have a datetimepicker in the front end and want to register that for each user in my orionjs admin panel
any clues? i know how to do it from the admin panel to the front end but not backwards...

@krishaamer
Hey everyone, I'm building an online gallery that needs to show images at various resolutions for different devices and screen sizes. Does someone have any advice on what's the optimal solution for storing the images / managing versions (different sizes) in GridFS with a Scorpius admin?
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
@all does anyone have any experience with orionjs ?
david castillo
@ecuanaso
@Teodi Yes, I do what's your question
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3

Greetings, everyone . I know it has been silent for a few weeks. I would like to announce that Scorpius is undergoing a major refactor for the 1.0 release. As the previous incremental updates have been focused on keeping functionality of the previous Orion project, as well as making incremental improvements. I'm happy to say the 1.0 Release will be a fresh implementation , a true implementation of what I originaly invisioned Scorpius to be.

Scorpius 1.0 will be focused as a Headless CMS, with an API backend. This will essentially allow you to build your front end in any language or system you please while leveraging the full power and control of Scorpius.

After vetting through just about every framework there is today, Angular2 , Angular1, Ember, Amber, React, Polymer, Blaze , ... Blaze2 and Vue. I have come to a conclusion that Vue is the most future proof and easy going framework to really take Scorpius to the next level. On that note, Scorpius 1.0 will be refactored and built on top of Vuejs

@Ajaxsoap
This is great news @rwatts3! Thank you for all the hard work! I too have researched this past few months, trying and testing a lot of frontend and I think VueJS is the most simple and elegant solution and its so much similar to blaze! :clap: :+1: :smile:
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
@Ajaxsoap yes that is also the conclusion I came to. Of course official documentation and tutorials will be provided once the new site is launched.

@rwatts3
/@all Greetings everyone in the coming weeks ill be posting instructions on beta testing the new admin backend and the future of a Scorpius. I wanted to thank everyone for the support. Those that are interested in becoming backers for the Scorpius project feel free to post a comment to this message. A mention will be added to the read me file in great appreciation of your support.
