@rwatts3
Using stripe and a templates
The one I will write for Scorpius will be fully modular.
With a gateway so I
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
ill stay tuned to see if you push that code or something ...hope u do :)
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Custom components for controlling the cart and the ability to override options
Also i leveraged the dashboard to bring information such as orders and total sales to the admin panel.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
was it easy to do all that?
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Its definitely something needed. And I tried working with reaction in the past and felt it was redundant to have a separate system so that's why I'm going to build it onto core as an option.
After I got going it was. At first it was a little difficult.
When I write the api it will be a piece of cake.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
and by this means you are able to upload products straight from the cms dashboard panel as well? or do you seed it manually from the code?
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
The new Scorpius is going to be focused around a central config so you'll be able to add some config options and spin up the module on no time.
No it was all from the dashboard
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
thats what i wanted to hear. sounds effin awesome. would be good to eventually see something
ill stay tuned for sure
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Yeah as soon as I'm finished with the next push I'm going to focus on expanding core a bit with good features.
Such as a redirects module. Where youbcsn insert redirects for seo related stuff. Make pages and nav better. Ecommerce etc.
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
@rwatts3 hey man do you happen to know how can i add activity from the front end to be heard on orionjs admin panel? i mean i already created a collection for it
i have a datetimepicker in the front end and want to register that for each user in my orionjs admin panel
any clues? i know how to do it from the admin panel to the front end but not backwards...

Hey everyone, I'm building an online gallery that needs to show images at various resolutions for different devices and screen sizes. Does someone have any advice on what's the optimal solution for storing the images / managing versions (different sizes) in GridFS with a Scorpius admin?
Orlando Arana
@Teodi
@all does anyone have any experience with orionjs ?
david castillo
@ecuanaso
@Teodi Yes, I do what's your question

@rwatts3

Greetings, everyone . I know it has been silent for a few weeks. I would like to announce that Scorpius is undergoing a major refactor for the 1.0 release. As the previous incremental updates have been focused on keeping functionality of the previous Orion project, as well as making incremental improvements. I'm happy to say the 1.0 Release will be a fresh implementation , a true implementation of what I originaly invisioned Scorpius to be.

Scorpius 1.0 will be focused as a Headless CMS, with an API backend. This will essentially allow you to build your front end in any language or system you please while leveraging the full power and control of Scorpius.

After vetting through just about every framework there is today, Angular2 , Angular1, Ember, Amber, React, Polymer, Blaze , ... Blaze2 and Vue. I have come to a conclusion that Vue is the most future proof and easy going framework to really take Scorpius to the next level. On that note, Scorpius 1.0 will be refactored and built on top of Vuejs

This is great news @rwatts3! Thank you for all the hard work! I too have researched this past few months, trying and testing a lot of frontend and I think VueJS is the most simple and elegant solution and its so much similar to blaze! :clap: :+1: :smile:
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
@Ajaxsoap yes that is also the conclusion I came to. Of course official documentation and tutorials will be provided once the new site is launched.

/@all Greetings everyone in the coming weeks ill be posting instructions on beta testing the new admin backend and the future of a Scorpius. I wanted to thank everyone for the support. Those that are interested in becoming backers for the Scorpius project feel free to post a comment to this message. A mention will be added to the read me file in great appreciation of your support.

Thanks, I've been busy for a while, but I'm getting some more bandwidth to work on things like this.
How is the project going?

@manson
Hi, guys! How difficult it will be to move project from orion to scorpius? I have a big runing project that needs to be evolved and as you understand orion stoped development makes me sad...
Kris Haamer
@krishaamer
Welcome back @JeremyIglehart ! :)
@manson I had 3-4 Orion projects I converted to Scorpius without much trouble
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3

Hello everyone, So I want to share a major change that will be coming to Scorpius to help better prepare you. Scorpius will be moving to a Headless CMS Approach . Where you will deploy your schema and the admin panel to your server, and be able to write the entire front end of your application using any technology you choose. It will not be tightly coupled with the framework, but I will be working on a few boilerplate projects to help get you started.

Some front end technologies may include React, Vue, Riot, and even Polymer , from a truly decoupled approach.

If anyone would like to help with the boiler plates and documentation please speakup.

@rwatts3
@krishaamer Thank you, this is great , let's create an issue in github, and start the planning of what we're looking for.
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
Good day everyone, Just wanted to share an update on Scorpius 1 progress
as most of the lapsed time has been directed towards research a previous mention of the view layer included using Vue.js
Within that time a discovery of nuxt.js evolved. If you are not familiar with Nuxt, it is the Vue equivalent of Next (react based)
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
With that being said here is the tenative future of Scorpius
  1. Scorpius will be tansitioned into a BAAS in some aspects. It will contain an api/graphql instance, that will allow you to deploy Scorpius completely separate from your application
  2. Scorpius admin panel will leverage the api, which means it will be separate from Scorpius as a service.
  3. With such changes to Scorpius this would allow you to use Scorpius as a service to your existing and future applications, vs. being forced to build your entire application within Meteor/ Scorpius
  4. Scorpius will have fully supported Docker Images, to start each service.
  5. Refactoring of Scorpius to allow more than one application instance, and configuring or initiating an application instance from within the UI of Scorpius. What does this mean ? It means that you will be able to create a site/ app such as App1, then toggle to App2, and see all collections/ within the other instance.
For the time being I strongly encourage Scorpius contributors followers to look into Vue.js as it will be the primary view layer of Scorpius admin
Kris Haamer
@krishaamer
That sounds amazing! Even with legacy Scorpius I've been creating my user-facing and admin apps separately to reduce compatibility bugs (I can use Iron Router in the admin and Flow Router in the user app for example) and also add security (no /admin in the user app, the admin lives at a separate secret url).

Patch Release

  • scorpiusjs:accounts v0.3.1_4
    • fixed issue where scorpiusjs:accounts threw an error regarding tabular.

Hello everyone just saw this intresting project on Github
am hoping to jump right in and give it a try. But there's no tutorial to point me towards the right direction concerning the Scorpiusjs framework

@rwatts3
Hello everyone, I want to take a quick poll, by showing a thumbs up or down who here has worked with vue.js ? and who enjoys working with blaze, but would like the component power of react/vue. Thumbs up for keeping Scorpius configurable using Blaze, thumbs down for moving to a different vue layer like Vue. I want to get the community's opinion before making such a major change to the platform
