    actually I am a total newbie here with only brief exposure to haskell and scala. still I am very impressed by the custom haskell project
    btw, I have seen an implementation of a language with fully extensible syntax http://seed7.sourceforge.net/ -- would be helpful in any way when defining a functional language?
    Michał J. Gajda
    @mgajda
    Syntax extension is usually realized with Template Haskell or preprocessor, but comes at the cost...

    Is there any data structure in haskell similar to javascript Object ??
    just curious
    *I'm a newbie to haskell
    Avi Avni
    @AviAvni
    @Rafi993 Even if there is object like this you don't want to use it it's not the spirit of haskell
    Marco Zocca
    @ocramz
    @Rafi993 more concretely, you declare data structures with the data keyword; their fields may be functions in turn, but there is no notion of "inheritance" as in OO languages

    @Rafi993
    Thanks @AviAvni and @ocramz for the info

    There's map / hashmap data structures, if you don't know the keys in advance, or you use a haskell record if you have fixed keys.

    Hi! Is there still development being done on the book? If there's a need for content contributors, I'd love to get involved!
    Michał J. Gajda
    @mgajda
    me too, but Stephen seems to prefer doing it all by himself til now
    Khayyam Saleem
    @khayyamsaleem
    Yeah, but the last commit now was over a year ago! I'm a big fan of the chapters that have been released so far, so I'd love to get involved. I've got quite a bit of familiarity with type theory, so if there's work to be done on the Type Systems or Type Inference content, I'd love to contribute.
