==> Caveats
To have launchd start emacs at login:
  ln -sfv /usr/local/opt/emacs/*.plist ~/Library/LaunchAgents
Then to load emacs now:
  launchctl load ~/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.emacs.plist
is that necessary?
that's what brew tells me after installing emacs
I don't really know why I would want emacs to start at login so I didn't do it
but it might be why it hangs
oh
it works now
weird
I did a restart of my mac yesterday. not it works
Ulises Cervino Beresi
@ulises
yeah, not sure you'd want to start emacs at login
ulises @ulises shrugs
Philipp Dörfler
@phdoerfler
hey uhm I feel dumb about that but how do I exit emacs in the terminal? :p
Ulises Cervino Beresi
@ulises
C-x C-c
just like you'd exit your GUI
Philipp Dörfler
@phdoerfler
aquamacs understood Cmd+Q
Ulises Cervino Beresi
@ulises
ah, true, Aquamacs has OS X bindings, I forgot
Philipp Dörfler
@phdoerfler
@ulises hey thanks for pointing out spacemacs for me. That thing is amazing! I love it!
Philipp Dörfler
@phdoerfler
so out of the box spacemacs doesn't have any special support for .java files, right?
just asking to see if it would conflict with emacs-eclim
@ulises this might be a question for you ;)

How can I speed up emacs-eclim?
I have a matching eclipse version (Mars) but completion is slightly slow and I didn't go to emacs to wait
Ulises Cervino Beresi
@ulises
phdoerfler: speed up how? is emacs too slow to respond? or what?
in any case, what I did is trim eclipse down as much as possible, e.g. don't autobuild, don't highlight sources, give it more memory, and so on
Ulises Cervino Beresi
@ulises
oh, completion
didn't read your last message
yeah, completion is not the fastest thing in the world
the way I have it so it's tolerable is by closing unrelated projects, and all the tweaks to eclipse above
the one nag I have with completion is that local symbols aren't at the top vs. any other symbols

I find having only eclim sources in the auto-complete menu makes for a better user experience. Looks better and feels a bit faster. What about you guys?
Ulises Cervino Beresi
@ulises
I find autocomplete to be mildly annoying in that local symbols don't appear at the top
but otherwise, in general it's tolerable ;)

@skybert
I suppose that's the order Eclipse/eclim returns the results ... never thought about that, though, but guess it would be useful 😊

I am trying to work out the basics of what I do when I clone a project and then start using elim and emacs. Sometimes certain jar imports are not being found and for example I get squiggly red lines under javax.. I have tried to look at the documentation but can’t find anything to work out how to get this corrected.

New users are being sent to this repository and they are then submitting issues here.
I was thinking that someone could submit a file to this repository called .github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE.md and the file would tell them to submit the issue to the new repository?
I do not have commit access to this repository, but I am a collaborator on emacs-eclim/emacs-eclim

Hi, I just wondered is it possible to show the error or warning message in the echo area?
ciboo
@ciboo
Hello
I created a project from within emacs
it contains a large number a files
emacs was unresponsive for more than 20 minutes
I ended up killing eclipse and emacs
is there any plan for making the eclipse calls async?
or it's my weird setup the problem?
