@halfdan I am not working on anything currently, so you can start working on any issue if you want

About default environment, I don't think it's a good idea.. Deploying or running a command on a remote server can be dangerous. I don't see the real interest of not typing environment in the command.

yes hence the reason the default should be something like “staging” or “development"
never production
rake/ember have “development” as default
Greg Bergé
@neoziro
Jun 24 2015 08:05
yes but you don't need to deploy in the development environment
Fabian Becker
@halfdan
Jun 24 2015 08:05
so when you run rake db:migrate it’s gonna default to the development env, same with npm install (it’s installing devDependencies, unless you specify —production), ember deploy will also default to development
development/staging are often used synonymous

yes I see the interest here, but for Shipit, I don't see the interest because I don't deploy in development, it's a non-sense

it’s what people are used to and value with these other tools, so I think it’s a fair assumption they want to see the same in shipit
@neoziro ember deploy / shipit deploy are the same thing
and I do deploy in development/staging
so it’s not nonsense
@cognitom and @timkelty seem to agree

OK, don't do it for now, but I will re-evaluate it. If you are three to think in that way, you are probably right. I will speak with other people about that.

Is there any good way to use Shipit from API? I’m trying to integrate it to gulp task.
Let me know if you have any questions

gotta admit, coffeescript makes shipfiles look way sexier than vanilla js

No, don't turn to the darkside! :)
Fabian Becker
@halfdan
Jun 24 2015 13:52
hahaha
but for shipfiles I dig the syntax
not ever going to do a project in coffeescript
and readability

@cognitom
Jun 24 2015 14:08
haha
coffee is a good language for *file.coffee
but honestly I’ve switched to the ES6 for others already

@cognitom got an example?
Tsutomu Kawamura
@cognitom
Jun 24 2015 15:02
ES6 shipitfile example? oh, sorry I meant ‘others’ as ‘other source code’ like a main program or react components.

I felt some difficulty to make shipitfiles on require('shipit-deploy')(shipit); convention..
in ES6
