@skaji
Hi!
cpm 0.900 introduces "prebuilt" feature. I believe this is a big change in CPAN world. I would appreciate it if you tried that!

@skaji
Windows support by charsbar #98 was merged :heart:
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
Wow, I found that menlo could not extract tarballs if the path of tar command contained spaces.
We should fix menlo first to support Windows seriously... :sleeping:

Do you want some hook system for CPAN clients?
before_resolve, after_resolve, before_fetch, after_fetch, before_configure, after_configure, ...
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
0.910 is now released :heart: https://metacpan.org/release/SKAJI/App-cpm-0.910

@skaji
hmm, how do we execute gunzip --stdout Module.tar.gz | tar xzf - without shell in Windows?
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
Should we use Win32::Process?
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
Oops! I should have been careful. cpm 0.911 sometimes fail to install CPAN modules.
Fixed in 0.912
I reverted a commit in skaji/cpm@c7ba86b

@skaji
And now I created a repo which runs tests against clean perl 5.8.1 and 5.10.1.

@akarelas
I like your project, and am glad you're continuing development on it. Thanks!
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
@akarelas thanks :smile:
Le Garff Yoann
@le-garff-yoann
Hi, great module! I have one question, which is: Is it possible to use the "install" subcommand against a Makefile.PL (therefore without a cpanfile)? Thanks :)
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
@le-garff-yoann hi; If you also have META.json, then try cpm install .
Felix Sargent
@Antagonist_twitter
IS there an easy way to clean the installs? I have 1.1 gb left in my root folder and would prefer not to just delete stuff without knowing how it works
should I just rm -rf $home/.perl-cpm ?
@skaji ^
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
Yep, you can remove ~/.perl-cpm at any time.
Slobodan Mišković
@slobo
sorry if I missed this, but can cpm generate cpanfile.snapshot? or we still need to use carton for that?
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
currently no. I hope carton extracts such functionality. perl-carton/carton#223
Slobodan Mišković
@slobo
fair enough. is then the recommended workflow like this:
cpm install
carton install
to generate .snapshot?
how about when updating modules or adding new requirements, still a two stage thing?
Shoichi Kaji
@skaji
Yeah.
To update modules, I would recommend remove the entire ./local directory fisrt, and execute cpm and carton again.
Because cpm uses prebuilds, it will not take a long time.
Slobodan Mišković
@slobo
sounds good, thanks!
