Katharine Berry
@Katharine
I'm working on libpebble2 now. When that ships, it will even actually be readable. :p
Katharine Berry
@Katharine
And it now exists: https://github.com/pebble/libpebble2 — could maybe be vaguely helpful.
Olli Vanhoja
@OlliV
If I understood correctly, I should be able to dismiss notifications with a long press on select button. However it doesn't seem to work for me. Does this require some support from the daemon side too? Has anyone tried Notigication center from play store, does it work with Jolla?
Olli Vanhoja
@OlliV
@Fuzzillogic were you able to solve your issue with the developer mode?
Olli Vanhoja
@OlliV
I guess cloudblepebble doesn't work either?
Olli Vanhoja
@OlliV
oh, there is a possibility to "Add app file" from the app gui but where should I put those files then?
Javier
@javispedro
Dismissing notifications is not done yet, see issue #22
I've already added support to dismiss notifications in libwatchfish, and also loading category information from lipstick -- https://git.javispedro.com/cgit/libwatchfish.git/
still testing though, and "I've heard" notifications are going to change again in SFOS2, e.g. no more aggregated ones for chat/IM.

@OlliV
my pebble got stuck, I rebooted it and now it's in recovery mode. I connect to it with the app but I can't start reinstalling the firmware image. "Begin upgrade" just immediately returns to the info page.
Should the upgrade feature work for recovery firmware or do I need an android device for recovery?
Tomasz Sterna
@smokku
it works for Pebble Time, which is shipped with recovery firmware loaded only
but I didn't test with Pebble Classic
Olli Vanhoja
@OlliV
yeah, I was able to recover with an android tablet only.
Fuzzillogic
@Fuzzillogic
@OlliV Unfortunately no. However, there's a new x86 Android image available, which should have improved bluetooth-support. I was hoping that would work in a VM too, but at the moment the image is not available, because sourceforge is still down and the google drive on which they've put it won't allow any more downloads. Hooray for cloud services :angry:.
Fuzzillogic
@Fuzzillogic
@OlliV Pff. Quite a few images of the r3 release I found were wrong; their checksums were incorrect! Eventually I got it from this (admittedly shady) download site. Do not load that site without privacy protection, e.g. ghostery... Do not use the big Download button, but use the torrent. I can't link to the torrent directly, due to referrer-checking. But hey, it's legal and the checksums were correct (but DO test those yourself, see here for the originals.)
And guess what? pebble in vm! Hooray! I haven't checked any further yet, but this looks promising.
Fuzzillogic
@Fuzzillogic
Ugh. I got the pebble app running in the VM, the pebble is actually connected, but when trying to verify the firmware, the app claims the machine has not internet connection. Well, the browser and Aptoide in the VM works just fine. Could it be the app explicitly checks for cell network or wifi?

@HtheB
Hi Smoku (or smokku over here). Have you left Sailfish OS? :(
Does that mean that you also abandoned Pebble? :(
Robert Meijers
@RobertMe
@Katharine some time ago you told the names/string identifiers to download the latest firmware images for the Pebble Time. Would you also be able to give the one for the Pebble Time Steel? Based on pebble/libpebble2@0351cfc I would guess bobby_smiles, but that doesn't work (yet?), as http://pebblefw.s3.amazonaws.com/pebble/bobby_smiles/release-v3/latest.json gives an access denied error
(and thanks for replying so quick to my questions on the hardware versions/codes for the Time Steel)
Katharine Berry
@Katharine
It's snowy_s3
(I was torn when naming that between "BOBBY_SMILES", its codename, and "SNOWY_S3", its board identifier.)
@RobertMe
Robert Meijers
@RobertMe
Ok, thanks for the clarification :smile:
Katharine Berry
@Katharine
I went for bobby smiles, for consistency with "bianca" (board name "v2_0").
Tomasz Sterna
@smokku
@Katharine what is a firmware codename for chalk's bigboard? there is "spalding_evt" and "spalding", but no "spalding_bb2"
I do not believe anyone would really need it in pebbled, but for the sake of completenes... ;-)
Katharine Berry
@Katharine
It's spalding_bb2.
forvelin
@forvelin
@smokku hi, do you still give codes for firmware update at least ?
Christopher Frost
@cgfrost
@lancelion I did this last week, smokku got the code back to me in a couple of hours.
Tomasz Sterna
@smokku
@Katharine thx
Javier
@javispedro
will work a bit on 'appfetch' channel support for 3.x app loading in my branch https://github.com/javispedro/pebble
by the way I don't know how to set the order of the main menu in 3.x firmwares, but I suppose the "app" blobdb has something to do with it
and I don't understand why the 3.x timeline needs to go through a server https://developer.getpebble.com/guides/timeline/timeline-public/#comment-2412346339
Andrew Branson
@abranson
That's a bit creepy, especially for personal data.
Robert Meijers
@RobertMe
only user based timelines may provider personal data. And even then it's more likely that it's personalized, and not personal (like name or something alike)
and at least for the shared timelines I don't see any problem of Pebble using the server based method. As when a user subscribes to multiple timelines you don't want to have all the apps (PebbleJS or companion, whichever solution you use) to do their own polling
although I have to agree it would have been nice if there was a PebbleJS API to add timeline pins (or an API in the SDK, but for Sailfish that wouldn't make a difference, as the original companion apps still won't work)
Robert Meijers
@RobertMe
but even if there was a PebbleKit JS based approach, that would mean the timeline could only be filled if the app was running on the Pebble. Or all PebbleKit JS apps must run on the phone app, which would also add battery drain
and there is of course nothing preventing you from adding a (DBus based?) API to add pins to the timeline, so other Sailfish apps can utilize the timeline functionality kinda like companion apps work, except there is no need for an app to run on the Pebble)
Javier
@javispedro
ah yeah, the battery drain argument, so android...
I plan to add calendar events locally, but that's about it, and it means no JS programs will ever be able to add events
Javier
@javispedro
until they make a C or JS API for it
Kishan Thobhani
@kishanio
