@KyraAssaad
I saw this page on DEI for a company called Tia. Even though it’s healthcare specific, I like how they lay out their charter under four pillars. https://asktia.com/join/DEI-Tia

Would anyone care to educate me? I don't understand how they can be "inclusive of women of all ... gender identities"?
circlebuilder
@circlebuilder:matrix.org
[m]

Your refer to:

inclusive of women of all ages, races, religions, economic status, ethnicities, abilities, gender identity and sexual orientation or anatomy at birth.

I think more inclusive and correct would be to say:

inclusive of people of all ages, races, religions, economic status, ethnicities, abilities, gender identity and sexual orientation or anatomy at birth.

Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
Well I think they're only focused on women, which is fine, but as I understood it womanhood is one's gender identity, so I'm thinking I'm probably understanding that incorrectly
Kyra Assaad
@KyraAssaad
In this case they are referring specifically to women because it’s a women’s health clinic.
@Vinnl_gitlab In general, I would say you’re correct that many women use “woman” as their gender identity, but I think they are trying to be inclusive of trans women and people who are assigned female at birth but might have a different gender identity that isn’t necessarily “woman” but still in the female part of the spectrum
Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
Ah gotcha, so e.g. "trans woman" is a specific gender identity that is a subset of "woman". That makes sense

Hi all, I would love to join the meeting on 8th June! Where can I find the meeting info? That cal event link above didn't work for me

@sarven thanks, I eventually found that out. Hey, what if acronyms and terms were always linked to the vocabulary that defines them? Nah, that would never work :-)
Marrelle Bailey (She/Her)
@MarrelleBailey

Hindia M. Mohammed
@Hindia
me too! :) by the way, i added a couple of issues here https://github.com/solid/deit/issues I wonder how it works after. Am i responsible for the issues I create ? (also i forgot how to move issues to backlogs on the board )
Kyra Assaad
@KyraAssaad
Thanks so much, @Hindia! I wouldn’t expect you to be responsible for the issues you create, but if you want to take ownership over them, feel free to! The DEIT Chairs can help coordinate them and put them into the backlog, and keep you updated on any developments on them
Hindia M. Mohammed
@Hindia
Thanks @KyraAssaad I'd rather follow the updates and give feedbacks instead. I'll take on more when my calendar gets clearer :)
Jeff Zucker
@jeff-zucker
Everyone does what they can, when they can. Issues are a great way to focus conversation so are an excellent contribution regardless of whether the person who opens it follows up further.

I created an issue regarding my confusion about the CoC in the hope it will help to have an overview and work towards alignment and visibility. solid/deit#13
Vincent
@Vinnl
I added a link to the CoC in the app-development Gitter as well as apparently I had sufficient access to do so.

Wow that was super proactive, thank you!
Could you please mention this on the ticket too? Just to keep track of it or know that it was done/attempted.
