I was involved in starting the credentials CG (which spawned out of the web payments cg) back in 2014 https://www.w3.org/community/credentials/2014/08/06/call-for-participation-in-credentials-community-group/
the ability to fund work that relates to tech production that provides natural persons the beneficial ownership of their data, was severely lacking and indeed under attack by sophistocated actors who knew exactly what they were doing (whilst their now ‘pivoting’ to suggest they were unaware, etc.).
Therein - we need to fund people who work online. sadly, business models to do so have resulted in far too much ‘web slavery’. there were union movements in the past, they’ll be a new one soon imho - i think gov will love it too, as the outcome should help re:distribute wealth; whereby the economic participation of all americans, makes silicon valleey problems minor by comparison.
but - point is, there’s work that could be done - but hasn’t been done, because we haven’t known how to fund it.
without the leadership of TimBL, i think it would still be significantly less safe to do this work; and that, we wouldn’t have as much interest in it, as we do now due to his choices.
pyamids one day, a journey that is known now as the formation of the jewish people, the next.
WW2 undertakes acts to harm all forms of human dignity - UN & Universal declaration of human rights, thereafter.
I started on putting that into RDF (first time any human has started such a thing? for some reason… https://github.com/WebCivics/community/blob/master/ontologies/UDHR_update.ttl ) but not much interest in helping to finish the job…
Darkness before the light, which in-turn makes useful the ‘wake up call’…
Yes. Very Political.
the point of my UX design (from years ago) http://webcivics.org/dev/index.html was that the ‘pod provider’ (domain name) takes away the domain name part of the WebID.
in this case - solid.community
Then, if the UserID ie: "ubiquitous” was the same as the base-location on that domain (using a standard search pattern - ie: /profile/card#me or similar) then you end-up with two fields to fill in, or three in total for WebID-OIDC and if you want to add WebID-TLS, check the ‘2nd factor auth’ box http://webcivics.org/dev/index.html
atm - it’s just got form-field validation, so type anything in and see some old RWW work...
