i guess at the end the memory consumption would be even higher, as each context also requires some memory. also then you have to figure out which of the context gives you the right result. maybe you have two similar words in different contexts and each context thinks its the word they have in the dictionary.
i think we have to wait till the models get smaller or the devices can handle it better.

@konobi
true, though you can use webworkers in nodejs land too, which might mitigate some of that
Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
Btw, Mozilla is doing a lot of interesting work in this area that will hopefully lead to good client-side libraries for this purpose in the future: https://research.mozilla.org/machine-learning/

@bergos
the mozilla projects looks interesting, but it's not yet useable. last time i checked it worked only with fixed length audio files and it looks like that's still the case ("do speech-to-text on short (approximately 5-second long) audio files").
that's the docker image i didn't get running, but looks very promising: https://github.com/jcsilva/docker-kaldi-gstreamer-server

Hence "in the future" :)

Can anyone point me to a listing of the Solid Meetups? I'm looking to attend one of the next ones near me.
Never mind - I found them linked to by @Mitzi-Laszlo here: https://github.com/solid/information/blob/master/solid-events.md

Is anyone interested in holding a Solid event in Zurich, Switzerland (or any other city in Switzerland for that matter :-))?
Thomas Bergwinkl
@bergos
@bettinahein i think @csarven once said something about organizing a solid meetup in switzerland.
if munich is also an option, i would be happy to join and also contribute with a talk.
Sarven Capadisli
@csarven
@bettinahein @bergos Yea, I was thinking Bern.. possibly Oct/Nov?

@fabiancook
Anyone got a tool to pipe slack messages into solid?
\@megoth_twitter
@fabiancook there are some code available at https://github.com/solid/gitter-solid - it's originally for importing messages from Gitter to Solid, but @timbl and I have added some functionality for doing similar stuff for Slack to Solid
It's a bit of (undocumented) setup, like adding a bot to your Slack and fixing a couple of tokens, but it can export messages from channels to Solid chats via Slack APIs
I can probably give you a hand if you want to give it a go

\@timbl
@fabiancook Specifically https://github.com/solid/gitter-solid/blob/master/slack-solid.mjs is the app for piping slack messages into solid, but we din’t get it working
The gitter > solid is working

(Was a while ago)

I made some io-ts validators for slack messages (automatically gives types for typescript) https://github.com/opennetwork/slack-to-open/tree/master/modules/slack-web-openapi.v2

I also made a "description" of what the slack API would look like as data https://github.com/opennetwork/web-api-conversation-channel-state/blob/master/src/types.ts

Using this I can create a json "graph" for an archive pulled from slack (for all organizations this archive is freely downloadable) https://github.com/opennetwork/slack-to-open/blob/master/modules/core/example.js

Its not complete, but I'm chipping away at it bit by bit

The schemas I'm using are from schema.org since they were most available in terms of types for typescript
I'm more going for complete archive of slack vs message by message or pulling from their API
Event API could be added on to get real time updates
Fabian Cook
@fabiancook
A 70k message slack group's history fits in a 42mb json file
image.png
The structure of the graph file is static, so comes out as just a regular typed json file that you can work against immediately
Generated for 112k messages and I get a 57mb file, not bad

@Mitzi-Laszlo
@bettinahein great that you're looking into organising a Solid Event. Let me know if you want to jump on a call and brainstorm ideas. there's also a chat on solid events with the organisers here

anyone have any tasks that need to be done. add them to the list so that others who are keen to do tasks know about that.

Published a post to the Solid Forum about a Single-Page App built using HTML5, CSS, and Javascript where WebID-Profile information determines storage preferences as part of a general demonstration of the important effects of loosely-coupling identity, identification, authentication, authorization, and storage.

solid-auth-client handles all the authentication and idp selection.

@csarven @bergos Happy to support any event in those geos - last week of October or November would definitely work for me.

I had fun learning a little query-ldflex and making this:

Still in the early stages. Next steps are to see how deep LDFlex can burrow into my Solid POD.

Sarven Capadisli
@csarven
@bettinahein Great, let's do it! Let's coordinate at https://gitter.im/solid/solid-events ?
Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
@DoctorBud That looks cool! I take it Smartdown is a way to make something like a Jupyter Notebook, but using Markdown? Might want to add a short description of it, because that was unclear to me.

@Mitzi-Laszlo Thanks Mitzi! I think I have a few more questions. I have forked the node-solid-server and having trouble with getting SSL to work also tried another set of instructions right now I can't find my tab, so many open LOL
@Mitzi-Laszlo I'm doing a Masters in Information Technology and working a project to implement location privacy in solid
Mitzi László
@Mitzi-Laszlo
Wonderful, with which uni? Would you like to jump on a call to chat? Curious to hear more about what you’re up to
Sharon Stratsianis
@SharonStrats
I would love to have a chat. I can't right now, basically I have 3 kids and one of them is using my phone right next to me playing Minecraft talking out loud to his friends. If I don't let him keep doing that I won't be able to talk anyway hahahaha
I'm in Melbourne Australia
where are you? It's 8pm here
can we talk tomorrow sometime?
Sharon Stratsianis
@SharonStrats
I'm going to email you something now

React NodeGUI is touted as a performant GUI alternative to Frameworks such as electron, for React and ReactNative:

https://github.com/nodegui/react-nodegui

Has anyone checked it out? Also posted to forum: https://forum.solidproject.org/t/react-nodegui-cross-platform-apps-with-react-reactnative/2154?u=happybeing

I am wondering I have forked node-solid-server, it says in the instructions I can use bin/solid-test to avoid SSL for development but this is only a text file for me not an executable. I am not quite sure how to get the SSL working any suggestions?
i downloaded OPENSSL
i can open a command prompt for openSSL not sur ewhat command to run or how to tie them together exactly
Dan Keith
@DoctorBud

@SharonStrats assuming you are following these instructions:

https://github.com/solid/node-solid-server#running-in-development-environments

then it is odd that your bin/solid-test is not marked as executable. Perhaps you are in a Windows environment?

The instructions for openssl and creating a self-signed certificate are a little later in the docs above:

https://github.com/solid/node-solid-server#how-do-i-get-an-ssl-key-and-certificate

openssl req -outform PEM -keyform PEM -new -x509 -sha256 -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout ../privkey.pem -days 365 -out ../fullchain.pem
