If anyone is interested in launching NSS servers, I am interested in investing in the same. PM me.

@DoctorBud Hi Dan thank you, sorry for my delay in a follow up question. I had to get on to a couple other things. I am running windows. Any suggestions? I tried running the openssl command and it didn't work, even after installing OPenssl. I also had the prompt for openssl and that command didn't work. Is there something I can do to run it on windows? In trying to troubleshoot I went the docker route, but that hangs when I try to access localhost:8443 I believe it is. I found the ip address and used that, that is when it hangs otherwise I received a proxy error

@DoctorBud
Sorry @SharonStrats , but I'm not really a Windows person. I did find this very long article (which you may have already seen) that implies that this keypair generation is possible, and that there are a few ways to do it. That's about all I can help with. https://forum.solidproject.org/t/pell-mell-on-setting-up-a-solid-server-on-windows/651
Sharon Stratsianis
@SharonStrats
Thanks @DoctorBud I will take a look. I actually just figured out how to run OPENSSL but now I am having an error. Just started troubleshooting hopefully it isn't a big problem. I will read through that article as well.

@SharonStrats
@DoctorBud sorry to bother you again do you know what common name or server name I should put by chance?
Dan Keith
@DoctorBud
If you are playing around locally, use localhost. If you are putting it up on some real external domain, then use that. But prolly just localhost is what you want I think
Sharon Stratsianis
@SharonStrats
thank you! @DoctorBud
Sharon Stratsianis
@SharonStrats
@DoctorBud another question sorry. I am wondering have you used the docker procedure?
Dan Keith
@DoctorBud
No. I've been playing with NSS just using MacOS's Unix. Docker makes a lot of sense for Windows, though.
Dan Keith
@DoctorBud
But throw out your question anyway. I might have a clue.

@ewingson cool! and indeed very generous! this is perfect for the app i'm trying to build. thanks!

@ewingson
@Julian-Cole no prob @ core team perhaps we can add two columns in https://github.com/solid/pods and https://github.com/solid/solid-idp-list named quota and support email ??

@DoctorBud somehow I managed to get my windows working in terms of SSL, but it's strange that when I click login and click my localhost server it literally does nothing. If I click on the solid community I end up logging in with my solid webid. Does anyone have an suggestions?
Also, console.log doesn't seem to work ? I put a console.log in the login function for instance which I know should be getting called but it doesn't invoke it.
Dan Keith
@DoctorBud

@SharonStrats what works for me is:

  • Make sure I'm logged out of any Solid service (e.g., solid.community)
  • Go to my localhost POD and use the Register button to create a new account on the local POD
  • Login to the local POD using the newly created account

I was able to put a console.log into the login() function in auth_buttons.js and I saw it printed in my browser console when I clicked the Login button after using the above workflow. Remember that when you click Login, a popup HTML window is created, which has its own JS Debug Console. The console.log() message will appear in console where the Login button occurs, and NOT in the popup window's console.

Maybe this will help. Good luck.

@SharonStrats
Hi @DoctorBud I created an account on the register page a while back and now it has a little box telling me if you already have an account log in. So I click that button and when I do it gives me a login with password etc. It appears to login, although it goes to this page

once here, it just doesn't seem correct - wondering is this how it should look?
So when I am here I decide to click the login button again, which looks like this.
image.png
the console below is the one for the popup as you mentioned.
Thanks for all your help by the way. I appreciate it.

@SharonStrats
I should also mention I just found my id https://localhost:8443/profile/card#me located in the db directory under users. and now I try to use this to login and it gives me the 500 error registering client
Dan Keith
@DoctorBud
I noticed that you are using https://localhost:8443/sharontest for your ID provider. Instead, just click on the upper left button https://localhost:8443 and you will be prompted for username/pw. The /sharontest might be throwing things off, unless you are in multiuser mode (I'm not an expert at all here, just trying to figure out things myself).

So basically, for local dev, you are in a single-user mode unless you follow the multi-userinstructions here: https://github.com/solid/node-solid-server#running-in-development-environments

But I think the /sharontest might be the problem in single-user mode.

@Mitzi-Laszlo can we pick a github repo to store Thursday's calls minutes from HackMD? I could make PR with today's minutes on https://hackmd.io/D_ZPm6hSQBWm2QLb5EEodQ?edit
then we can just point to it from https://www.w3.org/community/solid/wiki/Meetings and don't bother with that extra mediawiki space
Mitzi László
@Mitzi-Laszlo
Thank you @elf-pavlik for taking the minutes again, super helpful
Perhaps we could pop the minutes on each weeks This Week in Solid and a note on the details for the next call?

@michielbdejong re difference between panels#app-authorization and editors#authorization -- I think just the former's a narrower scope. and the latter's a superset (all sorts of authorization, /including/ app authz)
Mitzi László
@Mitzi-Laszlo
Check out the next edition of This Week in Solid. Congratulations to the editor appointments @dmitrizagidulin @dmitrizagidulin @kjetilk and great that there have already been editorial reviews! If you could update the details here that would be great. Also if you are part of a project or panel please do feel free to add a summary in natural language for next week to make the link dump a little more digestible. Importantly if you are on a panel and would like to submit a proposal for review make sure to add it here to kick start the editorial review process.

@michielbdejong
@dmitrizagidulin Right! Good point. authorization encompasses authorization of (roughly) users + apps + bots, and our panel is only about the second one, but our editor team is about all of them. I’ll at least document for each panel who the editors are.
